2016 Draft Prospect Thread

The only WR that I've seen flat beat Kevin Peterson this year was Sterling Shepard.

Well i am glad my binkie is getting love. I look forward to another team picking him and getting my cold tiny black heart broken.

I like how Braxton Miller gets off the LOS.

Man i really hope we take him in the draft!.. Would do great things in our system, give TB12 another weapon that TB would a star in no time!, add another dangerous/different dynamic in our offense. It would be freakin nasty crazy the things we could add into the scheme with this stud!.. Crossing my fingers and hoping we get VERY VERY LUCKY in this draft because of our first being stolen by the thief aka Douchebag Goodel.. Karma needs to be in full effect for those 2-3 days of the draft!!

Allow me to introduce Western Michigan Jnr WR Corey Davis.

He's 6-3 and 205lbs and had a 10-154 yard game against Michigan State this weekend. That's nothing new, for since his freshman days he has put up excellent numbers:

2013 (Fr) - 67-941-14.0 Avg - 6TDs
2014 (So) - 78-1408-18.1-15

Rotoviz call Davis a "Wunderkind":

Dynasty Watch: Corey Davis is the Wide Receiver Wunderkind

Here he is going up against Michigan State in his Freshman year. He doesn't win everything but bear in mind, he's a Freshman going up against two future first round CBs in Darqueze Dennard and Trae Waynes. He is certainly demonstrating an ability to compete at that level and, of course, has improved since then.

Davis almost made into my last mock, he would have done if I hadn't added Jones as a FA signing. Rich Hill, who I really respect as a Patriots writer likes him:

Gr

Great against the run. Scary in coverage.

I thought the same about Deonne Buchanon. Wouldn't be surprised to see Killebrew go in the same position. Another one for whom the Senior Bowl will be big.

Sorry to be boring

But as I watched this, I had a vision of Brady in Shotgun flanked on one side by Dion Lewis and Braxton Miller on the other and I got a little excited.

At this point I think whoever Pittsburgh is looking at at WR is who we should take. They always seem to be able to find players who produce. But in all seriousness, I have a feeling that BB might actually double dip on the position. Here are a few players that I think might be in play.
Josh doctson is apparently a possibility to be had in the secon because of his injury(which I'm ok with). He reminds me of a more physical Aaron Dobson.
Sterling Shepard is a possibility. He just seems to be a player BB would like. I like him alot.
Leonte carroo could also be had later in the draft. It doesn't hurt that he is playing for Rutgers.

The patriots likely have a different way of evaluating WR's and there is no telling how one of their players would do in our system. That being said the Pats obviously liked Emanuel sanders when he was there

Two more prospects that intrigue me.

1. Cayleb Jones, WR, Arizona

Jones is listed at 6-3, 215lbs but he looks huge and plays with tremendous power. Also catches the ball away from his body no looks to have big hands. This guys size means he's never fully covered. I want to love him, but, he looks to be fairly slow and unexplosive which is a draw back, particularly from the perspective of a potential Patriots pick.

It should be noted that he's a Junior and we don't know yet whether he's going to declare or not.

2. Alex Mcalister, EDGE, Florida

Was kicked off the team at the end of the year (don't know why yet) and is only listed at 240lbs. However, I've been looking for someone who could replace Chandler Jones long-term just in case we don't re-sign him and Mcalister really does have Jones' length - very long arms on a 6-5 body. Very interesting prospect if he can go northwards of 250lb.

Let's hear what people think of the other RB out of Alabama Kenyan Drake.
6'1", 210 lbs.
He has electric quickness and lateral movement for someone that tall. Moves like a smaller RB would. Good hands catching the ball out of the back field.
He lacks strength and bulk. Goes down on first contact nearly every single time. He has an injury history as well and some off field stuff.
What intrigues me about him is if he can add some bulk and not lose that speed, quickness, movement he could be a weapon if used correctly.
He may never be a 3 down back, but if put in the right situation and given time to grow, he could be a weapon on any down.
He is probably a day 3 guy for me because of the injuries, off field issues and his position, but he might be that day 3 guy that comes in and makes an impact.

He sounds like an intriguing lotto ticket, but the problem for those types of players is they bust way more than they pay off. Maybe he is someone the pats will grab in the 6th round

I think rookie wr's just have too difficult a task to learn the playbook and earn Brady's trust.

We need to sign a veteran free agent or two. Brady seems to work well with these types, after he has broken them in a bit.

Leonard Hankerson o wait a minute.
But on a serious note would love to get my hands on Michael Floyd or a reformed Josh Gordon.
I think this draft is where we throw caution to the wind and draft 2 huge reveivers early.

We can't really do that without a first

So who is the first QB taken, I'm thinking it's Goff out of cal. I don't know who is going to take him though, not as many teams are looking for qb help early in this year's draft. I guess Cleveland if they dump Johnny and San Francisco but those are both maybes.

Goff seems like a perfect fit for San Fran, but if San Fran has a coaching change and a guy like chip Kelly is brought in, then goff does not work.

The wild card is the kid from Memphis. I have not seen him play ever, but he did get Memphis to a bowl game.

Texas A&M's Germain Ifedi has declared. Seems to be a first to second round type currently so there's an outside chance he might be there in the mid-late 2nd round. I'll just say one thing:

Holy arm length Batman! Got to be a 34"-35" arm length guy.

From Ohio State LB Joshua Perry's CBS pre scouting report:

STRENGTHS: Perry only knows how to play one speed with a nonstop motor, and his approach allows him to make stops other linebackers can't. He has strong hands and wrists to take on blocks and finish tackles, not allowing road blocks to slow him down in pursuit.

According to several close to the program, he is the "consummate teammate" due to his mature mental makeup and leadership traits on and off the field.

I dont know how this injury might affect Hackenberg, I expect he will still declare.
