1. He's the best coach ever.
2. Every year this team is competing for a title
3. We are considered the most prepared team in the league
4. Despite inuries galore, this team keeps churning
5. Despite everyone saying our defense was considered crap we might have the best one in the league
6. He drafts well, despite picking at the bottom of the draft
7. He takes risks and is not afraid to lose

People love to look at the things in hindsight and just believe that despite the way we are playing that we should magically be able to do something.

I had no problem deferring, a stop and FG was likely our best bet. I'd have deferred a few weeks ago in Denver too. If our offense were healthy, then no.

Interesting thing about those complaining the most is that they have so few post here and that makes me look at them some type of way. If you have been here for about 4 years, and have less than 100 post but elect to start posting frantically and nitpicking decisions in this game just reeks of insincerity.
BB is right more often than he is wrong. Of what satisfaction do people seems to think they will get if he says he was wrong? Or made a mistake? He did what he thought was right for the football team.

It doesn't really make sense still....defense was having major problems. And their punter was playing very well.

Defense was having major problems in the fourth quarter by just giving up 31 yds?

Guys got a nice boat that says 6 rings.

He's good but i just hope he doesn't do what he did before the half ended come the playoffs.

Offense was surviving on a hope and a prayer. 3 & Out, first down or two, FG was the best bet IMO.

And now the insanity pendulum will swing all the way to the other side...

That's just not true. jests could barely move the ball after marshall's OPI TD early in the 2nd half.

3 plays, -6 yards, Turnover
9 plays, 45 yards, FG
3 plays, 5 yards, Punt
3 plays, 7 yards, Punt
6 plays, 20 yards, Punt (got 18 yards after the borderline call on Butler on 3rd down.)

They had 71 total yards after the TD. And it's not like they drove it down the field on that one either, the interception set them up at midfield.

Personally, I don't mind the call. Brady always seems to play a tad better when the game is on the line. OT is like the 9th inning now in some ways. Knowing exactly what you have to do to win the game makes decision making easier.

Of course, giving up a TD is a loss, but it's a loss either way unless the Pats scored a TD on their opening drive. I wonder if anyone has the numbers on how many FG vs TD happen on the first drive of OT.

You're right actually, I seem to have Roger Clements'd what happened. But, I still think it's an awful decision not to take the ball. Allegedly there was no issues with wind.

It's the internet, so I must nitpick

What NE did in OT is not "deferring". They didn't defer anything -- they made a declaration.

For ages and ages, football worked liked this:
  • Flip coin at start of game.
  • Winner (Team A) has to make one of the following declarations
    1. We will kick off.
    2. We will receive.
    3. We will defend the X goal.
  • If Team A did (1) or (2), the loser (Team B) has to do (3).
  • If Team A did (3), Team B does either (1) or (2).
  • At the start of the 2nd half the roles are reversed. Team B has to declare (a), (b), or (c) and then Team A makes the responding declaration.
  • At the start of OT we have another actual coin toss and it's just like at the start of the game.

Then they added the "defer" rule and now it's like this:
  • Flip coin at start of game.
  • Winner (Team A) has to make one of the following declarations:
    1. We will kick off.
    2. We will receive.
    3. We will defend the X goal.
    4. We will defer.
  • If Team A did (1) or (2), then Team B has to do (3).
  • If Team A did (3), Team B does either (1) or (2).
  • The new wrinkle -- if Team A picks (4) then Team B now has to make the initial declaration, with Team A making the responding declaration.
  • At the start of the 2nd half it depends on whether anyone deferred at the start. If no one deferred it's like it was under the old rules -- the roles are reversed. Team B has to declare (1), (2), or (3) and then Team A makes the responding declaration. But if Team A deferred then now Team A makes the initial (1), (2), or (3) declaration at the start of the 2nd half.
  • At the start of OT we have another actual coin toss and it's just like at the start of the game except deferral isn't an option.

I'd strangle you within 2 minutes at a real Patriots game...I'm sending Krafty an e-mail suggesting he build an "Anal Retentive Tent" for all you unbelievably kunty know it alls. He can pitch it outside the Razor and you clowns can get game updates via your own personal valet...krist

.

Well he had two 4th down conversions. An extra play helps too.

I'm glad they elected to kick, I trusted the defense to hold them to at least a FG. BB was hoping for a short field to put the offense in a better position to score, **** happens. Pats will win next week all will be good.

It was the right call. We lost because the Jets put together their best drive of the game (season?) at the wrong time for us.

We should all be worried because it's not like BB has any type of track record in the playoffs that we could look at to see what kind of a coach he would be in those types of situations.
