Trollin getting owned by Portnoy on WEEI

Volin is experiencing what Tomase has already encountered. As a journalist Volin has burned too many bridges with athletes to ever be trusted ever again. He is not witty enough to pen commentaries ala Shank Shaughnessy. So he has resigned himself to throwing bombs and accusations against the wall hoping one of them will stick.

volin owned.
you can tell that ben wants brady to get suspended.

I heard Felger say it once, for every bad thing you say or off the wall thing you say it translates into 20 minutes of listening. So the more crap that is put out there, the more ratings you get.

That is why they are putting on odd off the wall guys. You can't tell me when Tanguay says Brady paid off the two Pats employees the phone lines weren't lit up to go after him?

At this point, the moment I hear Tanguay's voice I change the station. Hate listening doesn't give me jollies all too often.

Hopefully enough people do this type of thing often enough that Tanguay's technique becomes out of date and bad for ratings.

Eh. I don't buy it. Hardly anyone ever calls Felger to get after him, whereas there are tons of callers who enthusiastically praise him. For all their success and popularity, there is a strong vein of Pats hate in this area.

They are run by a jet fan who thinks that pissing Patriot fans off is both entertaining and good for ratings, and they are trying to get all of the " love to get angry" callers back from the other station. Personally I'm down to Dale & Holley because I just can't stomach the rest of them. I had hoped that replacing Benz would make the midday show tolerable but Ordway just can't shut up and he always wants to run with whatever Brady issue that has been contrived over talking actual sports, and this is at a time where pretty much add 4 teams are somewhat interesting, and I am not a Sox or Celtics fan. Every other word out of Ordway mouth is Trump.

The thing is 98.5 crushes WEEI in the ratings. The only WEEI show making any in roads on 98.5 is Dale & Holley which is Homer central.

And as for Ordway, I was hoping his firing would have humbled him. But unfortunately, it hasn't.

I don't get WEEI's strategy. I can't see Volin, Tanguay, or Tomase being good for ratings. 98.5 dumped both Volin and Tanguay from their rotations.
They must have pictures because we all know why Tomase and Volin should be exiled. Tanguay is just a mental midget and never has anything of substance to bring to an argument or conversation.

I agree. Amazingly, I find him more pompous and obnoxious than ever. I gave him a chance when he returned, but I just can't stomach him. I'm over pretty consistently to Bertrand and Zolak from 10-2 and that often isn't easy, either.

I haven't listened to that segment yet, but that's one of my complaints with Portnoy. He's bold enough and obnoxious enough to confront people like Volin (and Kravitz and Marshall Faulk,) but either doesn't prepare enough or isn't sharp-witted enough to really bury those people. You mentioned the AEI stuff with Volin. That's a point that Volin would have no real explanation for. Follow that up by asking if he ever did something similar for the people accusing the Patriots, like mentioning the Jets employment or fandom of Kensil, Goodell, Wells, etc, and you'd have Volin in checkmate.

Also, here's a great Twitter put-down of Volin yesterday:

Agreed, he screwed up going after Kravitz too, could have made him look like the fool that is but was not prepared/witty enough like you mentioned.

TBH I didn't think Volin or Prez had the upper hand in this exchange. Just some back and forth insults and regurgitating their arguments for 20 minutes.

However Volin is an idiot and clearly a Pats hater. Prez made a good point when he said he may be a homer but he is usually right at the same time whereas Volin is wrong. Then Volin proceeds to declare that the NFL will win the appeal. **** Trollin.

Was listening, the words "whiney little bytch" came coming to mind..

What a freaking troll, he admitted to tweeting this all yesterday morning to try to make this into a national news story.. who the F cares..

He made a big deal bout Guerrero wearing a Pats Jersey on the sidelines, and then Portnoy told him that all Pats employees wear a jersey on the sidelines.. must be Nike though.

I remember when the Globe used to be great McDonough and Gammons were all stars..

And yet we have some on this forum posting trolling Volin's Guerrero crap on here as if it was gospel. Not sure why anyone can drink this trolls Kool aid.

I realized quite quickly that I didn't miss Ordway one iota. Listening to Felger and Mazz is bad for my blood pressure so it's Dale, Holley and Thornton for me.

I see it as being posted for discussion. The discussion and comparisons to other teams & players was worth reading even though I did not contribute.

He definitely does, because then he gets to go be the 'voice of Boston' in the national media. He sure did make the rounds after deflategate, confirming that as the sole objective person in the region the rest of us--including the other beat writers--are just psychotic homer assholes. He tells them what they want to hear, and since he's 'local' the national audience especially likes hearing it from him. In the wake of Deflategate he was suddenly on CNN in front of a national audience with Anderson Cooper, clearly he wants some more of that.

He's already burned every bridge in the region, so trolling for outside haters looking for validation is really all he's got, and that's what he constantly positions himself for. The problem: unless a big story breaks, there's no reason for any national outlet to bring him on. Morally bankrupt, sleazy solution: manufacture a scandal.

I'm firmly convinced that he tries to manufacture this crap purely for national exposure to further his own career.

Volin has a career problem. Newspaper reporting per se doesn't pay well. And the career options sportswriting has opened up for a bunch of other guys (and a few gals) don't seem likely to open for him.

He could become a dunk tank clown. Similar job.

That and that troll Tomase has reappeared after years in exile. It's a joke.

All I have to say is Brady wished Callahan a Merry Christmas ...
did not say the same to Volin ... in fact left after that ... Ben got nothing.
