NFL-ESPN Conspiracy Theory: Team Ownership for Carrying the NFL's Water

John Morgan

Think of it this way: considering all the lies the NFL has fed the public in 2015, is it more probable or not that there was some sort of back room business deal between 345 Park Avenue and the CEO of ESPN's parent company?

This stuff makes me want to throw up

EVERYTHING is about money. Follow the dollars and you have your answer. The only exception is politics. Then it's about power.

I've said this before in these forums and will say it again here. We spew our vitriol at Goodell and the refs...it's the owners who ARE the NFL. They call the shots...and they love money.

I was gonna compare this blatant conflict of interest to Paul Allen's ownership of the Seahawks and 100 million shares of Microsoft but it's not quite the same, is it? This would be the CEO of a major media company having an ownership stake in a team. The NFL is really stretching their interpretation of their precious antitrust exemption.

It's sad to say but the NFL appears to be run by two things; 1. Money, and 2. Goodell's ego. Both have ruined the sport.

"Conflict of interest"is essentially an "appearance of impropriety".... all of which has to to with Ethics.

Integrity has to do with being honest and having strong moral principles...

After reading this and hearing the Goodell/Blandino doublespeak about how good their referees are performing.. the obvious has become more obvious.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that a woman in a Bristol CT Red Roof Inn charging reasonable rates told him that Tom Brady, Bob Kraft and Bill Belichick have been laid off due to a decline in the number of cable subscribers. When asked what the hell that has to do with anything, Commissioner Roger Goodell said, "I'm not sure, but Mr. Iger would like to know if Mort's source takes checks." Mort could not be reached for comment.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this ESPN-NYFL relationship had taken such a turn - it's how the world works, after all? Plus the fact that ESPN would know full well that the rest of the country will happily believe anything negative about the hated Patriots, so perpetuating the myth during Defamegate wasn't a difficult thing to do?

Do they care about journalistic integrity? Of course not - although their drop in subscriptions might make them sit up and take notice, but even then would Disney give a stuff? Highly unlikely - they can probably afford to run ESPN as a loss leader these days.

This was the best Patsfans.com article I have read.

A couple of months ago there was picture of Goody, Iger and Krafty sitting outside chatting just like Tony Soprano used to do with Paulie and Silvio Dante outside of Satriale's Pork Store.

Now we have further insight into why Bob 'Vichy' Kraft caved cravenly to the other 31 and only pretends to fight for his franchise when it's convenient PR and too late to be effective. Big windfall $ coming.
Expect more BS to come the Patriots way because the owners, the NYJFL front office and Kraft enterprises now know that localized NE fan outrage has ZERO impact on the bottom line.
