I Could Use Your Thoughts and Prayers

The colonoscopy is nothing. Unfortunately, I have been sick since last Thanksgiving/Xmas time with abdominal issues, specifically with swelling in my lymph nodes. Every second of every day feels like someone kicked me in the balls, and I've also had some really bad breathing issues due to the swollen nodes in the lungs as well. Really lousy times this year, which is the main reason why I'm up at such weird hours of the day and night. I'm in **** loads of pain and I refuse to load up on painkillers due to addiction concerns.

Anyway, I was worried about the colonoscopy as well, but it's absolutely nothing. The "prep" sucks because you're basically drinking a glass of bitter tasting water every 10 minutes for several hours, but other than that you're out like a light and back on your feet within hours. The night before you go to the bathroom like it's your job, but really the whole thing is something that's hardly worth getting too concerned about. I was only 39 when I had mine, and I think it's a good idea to have one every 5 years or so just to be safe. If you need any tips or have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

I think that stuff they make you drink to "clean" out your system the night before should require you to wear a seatbelt while on the toilet.

Supafly, I hope you get over those issues. Sounds like a tough thing to deal with.

Had a good day. My doctor visit went well. Of course, my day was made when the doctor told me that she had lived in England for 4 years and those were the worst years of her life. [emoji38]No offense to the Brits who visit Patsfans.com.

Have to go back in 4 weeks and get some blood tests in between. She is going to schedule a colonoscopy for me in the spring, so I have that to look forward to[emoji21]. And, I was told to lose weight and exercise. I knew that was coming.

Thank you to everyone. Could use a few more days like today.

I think Brian Regan nails the doctor visit perfectly.

Yes, sir, but I appreciate the thought.

After a 2-3 month "watching" period to see if they changed in size, they finally removed 4 nodes which thankfully came back clear. That said, they are approx. 15-20 times the size that they should be, which is what is causing the pain/pressing on nerves.

I have an auto immune disease called psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis, so they feel there could be a relationship there. In the meantime though, it freaking sucks.

Thanks, Tony. Much appreciated.

Yeah, every time I see someone turn on the kitchen facet, it's oddly the first thing that comes to mind. Insane amounts of liquified pressure rushing from your behind. Life can be weird.

That does suck. Ouch.

Yeah, I had that talk recently too I was like

I must admit now that I've lost the weight, and sort of exercising it has made a lot of my little aches and pains go away, and I have more energy. I also cheated and lost weight partly because of a drug I had to take for something else, one if its side effects was weight loss. I was like "Yeah, I don't mind."

I am so sorry to hear of your health problems my friend.. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Please keep us apprised as to your situation. People here care about you. We cheer together; we suffer together..

Had a colonoscopy 7 years ago so familiar with the process. I really cut back on my eating in the days leading up to it so the prep was not as bad as I feared.

All I remember was being led into the room and being asked if I wanted a little sedative or a lot. I chose a lot and will do so again.[emoji4]

I've battled with my weight all my life. I've won the battle at times but lost it more. It's time to win it once and for all. Getting too old to carry the excess.

I'm in the same boat. Up until my mid 30's I could eat whatever I wanted. Quit smoking and poof I've been up to 50 pounds overweight. Eat salads 3 weeks in a row and lose 5 pounds. Stare at a pizza and gain 6 pounds.

Thank you, buddy. I appreciate the thought.

Keep your head up, along with @PatsBoy12, and we'll see you through the rough patches. Hope the weekend is going alright.

In '86 I was 147lbs and 5'10". Worked bull work in a dye house and smoked a carton a week. Hurt my back in a car accident and it killed me every time I coughed. Quit smoking, went back to school and got a desk job. 4 years later 200 lbs, 10 years later 234, now down to 198 with hopes to get to 180 soon.

That is your cause of pain, is it severe enough for Humira?

It seems like an endless battle. Great job getting below 200. That had to feel good.

Unfortunately, I'm not a good candidate for the category known as biologics, where Humira falls. My dad had lymphoma in his mid 40s (eventually died of lung cancer), and I have had some lymph node issues as well. I also get sick fairly easily, which is exacerbated by the biologics.

I've tried some of the other medications like Methotrexate and Cyclosporine, but to no avail. Thank you for the suggestion though. I appreciate it very much.

I have psoriasis and it would appear I have a few symptoms of arthritis, but I'm beginning to reverse them. I'm going to make it go away, in other words, it can be cured.

Get the book The Autoimmune Solution, by Dr. Amy Myers. I got it a few months back and it has changed my life. I'm still working hard to be as disciplined as I need to be, but it's working.

My grandfather had horrible arthritis and that won't be me. I'm tired of feeling the need to wear long sleeve shirts because of embarrassment. That won't be me anymore.

Sup, I recommend it with the utmost sincerity. I have helped a woman I work with who is much older than me by getting her to read that book. If you have any questions shoot me a PM, I've learned a lot these last few months and keep learning more. I have boundless energy and my skin is becoming more vibrant and the gals are taking notice and my self esteem is up. It's the best thing I've ever done for me.

Wow, thanks for sharing the info, Herc. I will most definitely be checking it out, as I'm adding the author and title to my phone's notes right now. Thank you very much for the suggestion. I greatly appreciate it.
