This.

I love our safeties. I really don't understand why this board craps on them.

The CBs are average.
I agree, I think Richards will ease into a starter role before long in about year or so. Harmon probably doesn't stick around when his contract is up, I think he'll be a nice starter somewhere else.

Huh...so when you talk about none of the safeties other than McCourty being worthy of starting in the NFL, and that safety is a significant "issue" on the roster, that means you're ok with the safeties? Maybe it's just a matter of differing standards.

No, it's a matter of people reading posts properly in the context of history. We're seeing the coaching staff do a brilliant job of both limiting the liabilities of the safeties and covering for the problems at CB. Chung, for example, is not being asked to do things he can't do. We've all seen what happens when he's forced to do so. The coaching staff is using Chung essentially as an undersized LB, while using Harmon as a FS and having McCourty rotate between a FS role and, essentially, the CB3.

The question is whether or not that coaching will allow the secondary to hold up against the better opponents come playoff time.

The Pats are not running a Free Safety/Strong Safety system, Deus. They are running a 2 safety system. The system that Belichick has wanted to us since he got to New England.

No, I'm not. We've got thread after thread after thread about bringing in more CBs.

Safeties? Not so much.
Then I'm watching the game day thead too much.

You'd think the freaking sky is falling and it isnt

Fletcher and Jones off PUP to practice today. 3 weeks to activate.

The Practice Squad now consists of FOUR offensive linemen .. Blaine Clausell, Chris Barker, Wilson, and Milton. One of them is getting bumped up this week.

So maybe they roll with 3 RBs for a while. If Vollmer cannot go Sunday open roster spot could go to OL call up from PS.

If him leaving the stadium on a golf cart is true, not site how long Seabas will be out for.

Signing two OTs. Interesting

Even if Cannon can go, it still leaves us with Cannon/Fleming, and a whole 'lotta nothing behind them, so that may explain the doubling of the OT practice squad signings.

I believe one of the tackles has also played inside as well, so that helps to address both positions.

Keavon Milton was a 280-pound TE in the 2013 draft, and converted to a guard in Seattle.

Those 18 lifts gave little indication this man was destined to be a guard.

At a bit under 6-3, Torrian Wilson is listed as a guard as well. He played left tackle early in his college career and then transitioned to left guard. Did not demonstrate the speed or agility you tend to see in tackles.

Very interesting that the Patriots picked up two inside offensive lineman rather than a traditional tackle.
