Relax. Forums are for discussion. That's what we do. Enjoy.
Teams with big WRs like the jets..will expose our secondary. We need some type of insurance...because another injury...hell even without one...we need help
Matt Forte to Broncos among trades that would make sense - NFL.com
Sean Smith, CB, to the Patriots
"Three years ago, Bill Belichick successfully landed some needed cornerback help when he plucked Aqib Talib from the Bucs. This season, Smith could be Belichick's Talib. The seventh-year pro fits the Patriots' mold as a tall (6-foot-3) corner with long arms, and he could really help their secondary. I could see him moving for a sixth-rounder."
Seeing as he's an every down player on their defense, I think the Chiefs would get at least a 6th round compensatory pick for Smith if they just let him walk during free agency.
Sean Smith ranked as the #6th best CB for 2014, according to Football Outsiders.

Trading for Smith seems to make so much s that I doubt it actually happens

I have no doubt that the front office is looking into whatever options are out there, but there isn't the opportunity to swing an Aqib Talib type deal most years.
This season, seems like a lot of the out-of-contention teams have coaches and GMs not confident enough they'll still be around next season to benefit from the draft picks theyre being offered.
can you imagine Forte and Davis on the broncos? holy cow.
My comment about Terrell Brown getting 64/73 snaps in the Steelers game (Butler got 68), while Logan Ryan only received 4/73 speaks volumes to how Belichick and the coaching staff viewed the depth chart. Brown was perceived as a legitimate CB2, proven by his fairly decent play.
Ryan was nothing more than a depth player off of the bench, and that was in a game where we played nickle/dime almost every single down.
If you think that we're a better secondary now than when Brown was in there, I'd respectfully disagree, although I can certainly get behind the idea that a Belichick defense improves as the year goes on. I just don't think that offsets the improvement of Pittsburgh's offensive weapons or downgrade of the CB2 position either though.
They don't have the cap space for both. Davis' cap hit is $7 million and Forte's is about $9 million.
The trade deadline takes place after week 8 games, which means they would have to take on half of that (someone correct me here if I am thinking about this wrong). They are both UFA's next year, so it makes little sense for Chicago or SF to make a trade unless Denver takes on the whole enchilada.
