Kinda of bothered me that the Pats on the last few series gave up on trying to move the ball. Now i know it would of been a BIG if, but Indy could of got back in that game. The blocked extra point could of been the difference if Indy would of recovered the onside kick. Yes yes i know we won, but dam put the knife in and finish...

For me it wasn't so much the last two series (beside the kneel downs). I was okay with running it and milking the clock and forcing the use of their time outs. It was a series much earlier in the quarter when we tried to run it three times in a row I think. Way too early to get that conservative. I believe the series afterward they tried to throw the ball twice but failed.

Yes the bugged me t0o. They couldn't stop the passing game. Do what you do best and for the Pats thats the short throwing.

I agree. Bruschi used to talk about pride in not giving up a TD in garbage time. But I give them some slack here because as Mack Herron points out the Offense didn't do their job in the 4th.

They trusted their defense to get the job done and wanted the Colts to burn their timeouts on defense and ran the ball accordingly. I see nothing wrong with the play calling there.

Brady was getting hit at the end of the 3rd qtr and the offensive line was failing massively up the middle. People were missing their blocks.

I think if BB had more faith in the revamped OL the Patriots would have passed more.

Speaking of the end I thought Gronk was gonna take that onside kick to the house

I fully get the clock - and if not for the "too much time" penalty we'd have had a first down, barring other changes, on one of the series - but I prefer the Patriots to play like the Patriots and throw to win when up like that. They're better at it.

The Pats got a pre-game text from our own sb1 not to run up the score, so his thread will look good. Just messing with ya sb1, good call, I thought it was gonna be a close game too.

What bothered me was being unaware that the clock was only 25 seconds coming out of a time out and taking the delay of game which turned 2nd and 4 into 2nd and 9 and then almost doing it again and having to take a timeout.

That was Coltesque.

Me too. That would have been epic. Then instead of spiking it he gives the ball to Brady.

The flip side of this coin is that had they run more effectively and closed it out with Blount pounding out first downs, people would be singing the praises of the play calling.

The Colts completely sold out to stop the run. They had everybody up in there when we lined up in a run formation.

I for one don't mind if they stay aggressive. Run it out of a spread formation, but don't get out of what you've been doing successfully. It was really weird since we are always pouring it on teams when we smell blood, but last night they called off the dogs.

versus the steelers, bills, and colts, the close out sucked

They won every one of those games. BB traded a meaningless score for all the time on the clock. The prevent meant that every short pass attempt completed meant the clock continued to tick off.

Like many, you forget the object is to win the game, not to roll up useless statistics... BB remained on course and kept his eye on it for the ultimate objective.

We bled the clock. People seem to want both. We should aggressively try to score boatloads of points but also use as much click as possible. When we don't do both half the people complain.
The strategy won the game so therefore it was fine.

Also, last night you had Edelman iffy with the hands, Dion Lewis very limited, obviously, a patchwork line where the Colts would start trying blitzes and such, Gronk covered well...

I loved the three runs that forced the Colts to burn their TOs, honestly. The other drives stalled on various things, including a non-PI call against Chandler, who got mugged on the 3rd down play.

BB's reaction to the "delay of game" penalty, that hurt the chances of picking up a 1st down on the ground, showed where his emphasis was.

Killing the clock.

damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Say The O throws a few times and has a couple of missfires, colts don't use time outs, get a couple of decent shots at scoring. or maybe brady throws a legit pick six trying to "send a message" to the colts with a garbage time long td. Everyone would be talking about how we should have run out the clock.

We won. discussion over.
"Your "best"! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and **** the prom queen."
