I used to tip my cap to the Niners, but not anymore. Jerry Rice had a severe case of the dropsies his first season and then he started cheating (the real kind not the trumped up kind that haunts the Pats opponents). Once he went to the illegal stickum he started to catch passes and the 49ers started winning. If Jerry "Sticky" Rice didn't try to take a shot at the Pats success I wouldn't have known that. Thanks Jerry.

I concede the 49er's greatness, but Jerry Rice brought this on himself and my estimate of him as a human being has been diminished.

The 49ers won 2 SB's before he even showed up. I understand your point, but by going right to the Rice thing your stooping to the haters level.

This is a picture perfect example of what is wrong with the league and society as a whole. Every little thing, people will whine and complain, try to blow it up into a story about how they were cheated because of X, Y or Z without having a f***ing clue about what they're talking about.... because its easier to do that than to put the effort in to be great.

Looks like there were 2 very logical and intelligent posters in that thread, the rest are tinfoil hatters. This stuff doesn't upset me even a little bit, it just makes me extremely grateful for having been raised by solid parents who taught me how to critically think and be an intelligent, functioning human being on this planet.

I saw Brady do that when it happened and I have to confess: I don't understand why the refs gave it to him. They usually only reset the play clock if, for example, there was some trouble spotting the ball or if a player was injured and got off the field slowly (but didn't require a full stoppage of the clock).

That play was a routine incompletion. Mid-range level sideline route. I just didn't see anything that should have reset the play clock. My best guess is they had an injury substitution while the cameras were showing other stuff?

EDIT: OK, I see others in this thread saying the refs had a delayed in spotting the ball for the next play. Mike Kensil was probably too busy checking all of the replacement balls with non-logo gauges.

Kidding aside, we've reached the point where this is backfiring on the haters, because it all just seems ridiculous.

I was listening to the beginning of Francessa's show yesterday (a notorious patriots hater), and he said as much… "No, it isn't good to talk about this stuff because it just makes the other stuff that they do get lost" or something like that.

It's become a joke to everyone who's rational. About time.

Brady was asking the refs to reset the playclock. The referees clearly saw him asking for it and granted the request. I've seen other QBs make the exact same request many times, sometimes they get it and sometime they don't.

It's just like the radio headset problem. It happens all the time in football but when it happens in New England, it makes national headlines.

Unlikely. It reset instantly when he did it. Which means it was already being done.

I registered on that board several years ago, but have never posted. It's dominated by 13 year olds who have never left their parents basement. No sense trying to have an intellectual discussion when no intelligence exists.
