Is Aaron Rodgers taking the field today?
I'm more interested in Aaron Dobson. But Reiss says he won't play. Is he injured? Guess I've been a bit busy and not following everything as I should.

Found an awesome breakdown from the perspective of a Packers fan... wish I knew as much about the Green Bay team we're facing

https://www.packerforum.com/threads/1st-preseason-game.61420/page-2#post-618472

Hi all,

Thought i'd swing by again seeing as it's Packers v Patriots (if only a preseason).

Lots of interesting stuff to watch for from a Patriots point of view:

1. Garopollo at QB comes with a reasonable level of positive hype - it will be interesting to see how he fares - he will also be 'protected' (I use that term loosely) by an O-line that is likely to have none of last years starters playing. A mixture of rooks and try-outs. Good job Jimmy is way more athletic than TB12.

2. Defensive backfield make-over. The 3 CB starters (nickel package) are all new this season - no Revis, no Browner, and no Arrington. Superbowl hero Malcolm Butler has been nothing short of outstanding in camp - but we all know that is a million miles away from even a preseason scrimmage.

3. Rookies on O-line - as mentioned above - the Patriots have invested quite heavily last few years in O-line depth - tonight we'll see what we have (or don't have).

4. Depth at Safety and TE - signed Chandler as FA from Bills on offseason - looking for some heavier two TE-sets and a focus on the running game.

5. No injuries. Seriously. No f'in injuries. Please.

Can someone with more time than me (I'm too busy posting on the internet) compile a list of jersey #s to watch tonight?

I think I'll take the time to start getting familiar with the potential 2015 team and see who stands out. I'm a couple weeks behind my usual level of knowledge with the team .

Feels like Brady is being held at gun point in a white ford Bronco. (gotta dig that pun/reference).

Pre-season games, especially game one are about individuals, not teams. You do hope that by say game 3 sub-units like the OL and DBs are communicating effectively. Forget the score and see who goes Full Tilt Full Time.

Generally we don't make them till a few hours before the game. So this is a bit early It's okay though.

I did not think Brady was going to play anyway even if he did not miss practice. Why risk him behind that injured OL?

Things I want to see.

Jimmy do well
The DBs do well... Particular what Butler. Roberts & Richards do.
The depth on the OL. I want to see how it looks.
Tre Jackson
Dom Easley

Those are the things I want to see the most.
Not a single starter from last year's OL will play. No Chandler, missing two thirds of the WR, starting RB. I don't expect the offense to do very much at all. I think Bill is going to pretty much mail this one in, play kids and depth players extensively and start to take it a little more seriously next game.

Holy sh*&*, is Tom playing tonight?

Number I'll be watching (acknowledging that some of these guys probably won't play):

Offense:
QB#10 Garoppolo
RB#35 Gray
RB#28 White
RB#33 Lewis
RB#39 Cadet
WR#17 Dobson
WR#13 Gibson
WR#82 Boyce
WR#14 Harper
TE#88 Chandler
TE#85 Bequette
G#69 Mason
G#63 Jackson
C#60 Andrews
T#71 Fleming

Defense:
DL#92 Brown
DL#99 Easley
DL#90 Moore
DL/LB#93 Sheard
DL/LB#48 Grissom
DL/LB#74 Flowers
DL/LB#42 ****son
DL/LB#70 Johnson
LB#49 Morris
LB#53 Martin
LB#55 Freeny
LB#58 Fleming
CB#21 Butler
CB#26 Ryan
CB#31 Brown
CB#24 Fletcher
CB#28 Roberts
CB#22 McClain
CB#35 Jean
CB#25 Swanson
S#27 Wilson
S#37 Richards
S#30 Harmon

I must have listed the majority of the roster, but I suppose that says more about the roster than it does my watching interests. There's some wide open competitions for third down back, depth at receiver, DLine, linebacker, and safety as well as the entire cornerback position.

As much as I'd love to see Tom play...I also have reservations. I'd rather not see him getting crushed if our backup OL flounders.

Let's see Tom come out, go 5-for-5 on a perfect march downfield and score on the first string GB defense, then leave the game. Would feel like a statement.

42
74
88
35
56
11
22
36
92
16
37
68
71

I suspect between the two teams, they should have most of these jersey numbers represented. I suggest that when watching players on the far side of the field you should focus on numbers more easily read without squinting, like 11 or 71 for example. I also suggest paying particular attention to prime numbers, the higher the better, as the greater the value of a number, the less likely it is to be prime.

Is Rodgers playing? It would be so awesome to see him and Tom take the field tonight

Aaron Rodgers plans to play in Packers' preseason opener

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers said you'll find him in an exit-row seat on the team's flight to New England on Wednesday.

That should mean the Green Bay Packers quarterback will play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Patriots, at least if you think it's reasonable to put two and two together.

"Our goal is for everybody to play in the game," McCarthy said Tuesday. "Whoever travels to New England will play. That's our outlook."

.....

This time around, Rodgers expects to play.

"I'm not sure how much time I'll play, but I'll be there," Rodgers said. "And I think we're going to go with the starters for a little while."

Would be absolutely hilarious if Brady played a series tonight to start the game after all those "sourced" reports yesterday of him not playing.

Would be a classic BB troll the media move. Could see Brady all day today in BB's ear, "Come on, Coach, I need this, just one series"

Although i'm sure some Boston mediots would make a huge deal of it. Because BB's past history and players missing practice.
