Hoge writes a good article..!!!

Well, Merrill has some good insight there, however he's got some bad information also. He's already putting Troy Brown and Kelley Washington on the team when Brown isn't signed and Washington will be fighting for the 4th or 5th spot with 2 guys who've had more time catching passes from Brady than Washington has.

Good article!! He does get it...

He gets it except the part where he thinks Randy will catch 80+ balls. I still think Welker ends up being the leading wr this upcoming season. I can see Randy with 60-70 catches for sure if he makes the team.

Will Moss be happy playing the decoy? Sorry, I really believe that Moss wants to be the Randy Moss that he was when he was with the Vikings; the Moss that the media built up to be the best wide reciever (back when Marvin Harrison was considered underrated).

You don't come out after the trade and say that you are going to be better than you were in the past while you expect lesser stats. No, you say your going to be better than ever before thinking that you will put up the best stats of your career.

Moss will get his looks, but I doubt he will get as many as he wants/expects. A 1,000 yard season isn't Moss' goal, but I am sure he will accept it reluctantly as long as he gets a ring out of it.

I hope Hodge is wrong... I hope that Moss and Brady connect effortlessly and underneath passes are unnecessary. I hope that the running game is dominate without having Moss run 40 yards up field to pull the safety. I want Moss to be happy, want Brady to earn a MVP, want to see Kelly Washington break out and show what he can be and I want the Pats to earn another ring.

Do you iron your underwear?

Aren't you nitpicking, dude? And even if Hodge was just guessing who 4 and 5 would be for our WR corps he picked two very likely candidates...

Opposing teams will respect him, but the presence of the other weapons on this team
will prevent defenses from focusing solely on him. This will be the first time since he stopped
playing opposite Cris Carter he will have other receiving threats to play off, and that will be the key to his success.

My question for the better tactical minds here:
is Moss the first look ... every time he is on the field?

Sounds like it was written by an 8th grader.

Hodge is the ultimate Pittsburgh homer. He never has anything nice to say about the Pats.

Hoge's most important point was the blurb about keeping the safeties honest and the effect that will have on the running game. Keeping the likes of Lynch and Sanders in the backfield is key to our SB hopes.

Tommy has had his "favorites" in the receiving corps, but he still makes his pre- and post-snap reads to determine what his progression will be. Where any QB gets in trouble, and Tommy is no exception (see AFCCG, 2006 season), is fixating on the receiver and not the read. To answer your question, no.

Hoge has a good read on how BB will possibly use Moss, actually one of the best so far. Definitely one of the few analyses actually speaking directly to his role with the Pats as opposed to the hundreds of others directed solely at his past.

Bump

Honestly, from what I've read on Pats fans since I started surfing it for info. 'bout 2 years ago, there are at least a dozen or so posters on here who could've written a better synopsis on what the Pats offense will do for '07! While I agree w/ everything Hodge said it's really a "no-brainer", which is exactly what Hoge is! Whenever I've seen his commentary on ESPN he has always picked against the Pats and never shown repect for them, which probably comes from drinking too many Iron City beers from his days in Pittsburgh.
