This is an Alice in Wonderland case run by the Three Stooges with investigators who had the morals of an alley cat....and the IQ somewhere between a chicken and a plant.
No offense intended to alley cats, chickens or plants.

As long as you don't throw the dogs under the bus!

so, let me get this straight. the penalty for beating a woman = being generally aware of deflated footballs.

ok....just another thing Bradys lawyers can show how inconsistent the NFL is in their punishments.

He was suspended for 15 games last season because of the domestic violence? If not, it is completely irrelevant. I am asking honestly, as I don't know. the reports are all suggesting he was given a 10 game suspension to be served this coming season (not last season).
He was on the commissioner's exempt list, which means he got paid but didn't play - which really sucks from Carolina's point of view since they were paying him the franchise tag value.

It raises an interesting question of whether or not that is considered a punishment. The law doesn't see it as punishment since he got paid. If you and I sign a contract where I agree to give you $75,000 to work for me for a year, then 1 month later I change my mind and say I don't want you but I pay you the $75,000 as contractually obligated, then you can't sue me and demand I let you work.

Technically Hardy was not punished last year. He went to the exempt list voluntarily. He got paid. He can't force his employers to let him work. But realistically, I think we can say that a player who doesn't play is being punished. He might lose future income. Plus he is a professional athlete that wants to suit up on Sunday.

But, I think he is guilty as sin so I have no sympathy for him and think it is bull that he currently shares the same suspension as a guy who was accused of an equipment violation based on the flimsiest of evidence.

As a life-long 3 Stooges fan, I resemble that remark.

Hoping this is in the future of our beloved overt Jetmissioner....

Your honor, I demand to see Roger Goodell's balls for the purpose of inspection and, if necessary, adjustment to their proper inflation using the Allred Hammer Of Deflation©...

I hope Brady can do better than her.

You mean eliminated by GOODELL. You assume Goodell is the final judge in the matter.

Brady has a lawyer who has made a career from winning cases that say otherwise.

Goodell will reduce to 2 games, Brady will get an injuction in court to delay that to 2016 and he will have his court case after this season.

If the NFL doesn't back down and settle, Brady will gain a couple hundred million bucks.

Nothing will withstand the 4 month long Mortenson/Gardi purposeful PSi misinformation campaign in court.

Has there ever been a defamation case with a judgment 1/10 as large as you're suggesting?

That said, any kind of record-setting defamation award would be one of the few ways for Brady to get his reputation back. He'd never get back the monetary benefits of his reputation, but that's what the award number would be supposed to address.

Interestingly, that means it is not in Brady's interest to settle. And that means the league has a poor negotiating position in settlement negotiations with him. And THAT means that the league could gain a LOT by publicly, vehemently exonerating Brady (because the alternatives are unpleasant to them) ...

... which will never happen as long as Goodell is commissioner ...

... so the league would gain a lot from firing Goodell ...

... except that the league would also lose a lot from firing him in terms of the money they'd have to pay him to go away.

With Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy having his suspension reduced from 10 games to four on Friday, I view that as a good sign for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in terms of his four-game suspension being reduced on appeal (2 games is the educated guess). The main reason is perception, which I sometimes think is more important to the NFL than simply doing the right thing. If the perception is that Hardy is getting only four games for domestic violence (the original intention was 10 games in 2015), how can Brady get the same number of 2015 games for underinflated footballs/lack of cooperation? That would be a very bad look for the NFL.

Hardy could benefit from a lawsuit, the NFL is playing the over punishment game and then reduces them after an appeal. If Hardy keeps pushing he may even serve 2 games or less, its worth the shot because no one in the NFL office knows what they're doing anymore.

"Sometimes"??!?!??

If I'm Hardy, I'm feeling okay with the outcome.

--fairly severe domestic violence case where he received zero punishment from the legal system

--he received crazy money on the commissioner's exempt list, and chilled the entire season with pay

--was given a ton of money in free agency as long as he participates in the games. This reduction from 10 to 4 games now means that he'll be payed handsomely for 2015, and he can put this all behind him

Here's an important piece of trivia! Larry was born lived and died in Philly.many of my friends are Eagle fans and we go there once a year to eat drink and watch football. One year we went to a bar/restaurant n on the side of the building was a huge Mural of Larry.

If I'm Hardy, I am doing cartwheels and praising Jesus for getting it knocked down to 4 games. There are pictures of this woman bruised and battered under lock and key which somehow, someway, TMZ has not managed to get their hands on yet.

There is no way he gets it under 2 games so I think it would be stupid to sue to try and reduce it from 4 to 2 when it keeps the story in the news and drastically increases the chances those pictures find their way onto Adam Schefter's twitter feed.

Any true Stooges fan has to visit the Stoogeum, a museum in Ambler,PA ( suburban Philly) devoted to the boys and where they have the annual convention (Fort Washington PA) usually in May every year.

Now that's a classy joint; I like it.

I did not know that. Sounds like I'll be making a road trip from Hershey to Ambler in the near future.
