It makes zero sense to take Richards with pick 64 unless BB thinks another team would have picked him in the next 31 picks.
Did he really think that would have happened? Really Bill?

He sounds like he's a hybrid LB (fast 10, slow 40 and size). We were definitely looking for a LBer / S in "contacts by team". Special teams ace, plus hybrid LB (with smarts). He could see the field a lot in sub packages and STs.

Okay, that's the best I can do.

The Richards pick is a nightmare. Even if he works out, they could have got him later & it's an admission that they missed on Wilson & Harmon. At some point, blowing multiple second round picks on safeties with sixth round grades is going to cost this team a Championship.

It arguably already did in 2011

So you liked the pick? You thought it was the best value we could get? I said I like having BB as much coach but this move did not maximize draft value and you know it.

If BB thought it was the best value.......my ego isn't big enough to think I know more about the value of a college football player and how he will potentially fit into the Patriots system than the HOF HC who just picked him for said team.

Another wasted 2nd round pick. My draft guide says he has a 7th round rating, and BB wastes a 2nd on him? Trade back. BB the GM continues to fuc$ BB the coach. This will be the worst pick of the round. Pathetic!

Ever heard of a bum by the name of Tavon Wilson? Comparing Gronk to this guy is a travesty. Everyone in the NFL knew who Gronk was. He was an injury concern. This is a case of "who the eff is this guy"? BB better thank his lucky stars Tom Brady is on this team.

Based on the response on this board, can the Pats cut Richards tomorrow? Why wait and force the guy to come to Foxboro and do all the media stuff.

People already have this guy being a bust and washout. Yes, it was a reach, but many of Belichick's reaches have turned into good to great players. Some prove to be bad picks too, but we are surprised a lot of the time with these reaches.

Ironiczlly, it is a lot of the picks we all think are steals that turn into the busts - See Jake Bequette for example.

Really? Other than Vollmer, show me a 2nd round reach by BB that turned into a pleasant surprise.

For every one Vollmer, I'll give you three Dowlings/Tavon Wilsons/Ron Braces.

So he interviews well and he's smart. Too bad he sucks at the game he will be paid to play. Too bad nobody in the world had this guy rated anywhere near the 2nd round, despite smarts and great interview skills. I guess he'll be a great assistant coach in 2 years. BB would have done better if he drafts his son instead of this stiff.

Richards was a team captain. He's also a smarty guy, earning Pac-12 All-Academic first team honors in the in each of the past three years.

BB can think he is best value. Maybe he is. We won't know till years later. However if no one was going to pick ihim in the next 32 picks then it was not getting max value.

I don't claim to know more than Bill. I know i don't. I do know he has done this 2 other times and failed. I have reason to be skeptical.

This is one of those picks where in 3-4 years, I scroll through the 2015 NFL Draft wikipedia page and cry tears of sadness over several of the players selected soon after Jordan Richards.

Let's hope I'm wrong. But damn, does Bill's track record for doing precisely this not look good.

I wish I could click the agree button 1000 times on this post. This will be so true, just like Tavon Wilson. A complete disaster.
