The Official 2015 NFL Draft Rounds 2-3 Thread

Has anybody blamed McDaniels for this pick yet? If not, I'm sure there's a connection somehow.

I guess he interviewed great. Must be a genius wordsmith.

So now all the interior linemen are flying off the board. Cool

Another wasted 2nd round pick. My draft guide says he has a 7th round rating, and BB wastes a 2nd on him? Trade back. BB the GM continues to fuc$ BB the coach. This will be the worst pick of the round. Pathetic!

Unless the writer of your draft guide has a boat called "Seven Rings", it doesn't really matter what it says.

Did he really think that would have happened? Really Bill?

I don't see how the answer can be anything but obvious. Is the GOAT coach in all of pro sports (a) dumber than the average guy on some message board, (b) sabotaging his own team to make his job harder or (c) acting on the information he has to do what he thinks is best for the team? Is that really a question?

All we need is PJ Williams and TJ Clemmings with our 2 picks in the 3rd round and this draft will be a success.

How many safties can we keep? Either Ebner, Wilson or Harmon could be potential cuts

Sure. Make way for the slow, 5'10" safety with the big brain........

@chatham58: I don't get the Jordan Richards pick, but I'm pretty sure the #Patriots don't have all those rings if they let outsiders build their rosters

So I guess one can't criticize any pick?

I think #12 has something to do with those rings, especially in 2014, matt.

Comments like that are just dumb. Actually give some insight or comment.

He's a public policy major at Stanford, so he and BB can have those long night discussions about politics.

Hoping Tre Jackson is still available when we pick.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

"Richards is a very smart safety. This is a bit of a reach for the Patriots; maybe two rounds early." -- Daniel Jeremiah

PRO DAY RESULTS
40-yard dash: 4.59 seconds
Vertical jump: 34 1/2 inches
Broad jump: 9 feet
20-yard short shuttle: 4.32 seconds

STRENGTHS
Team captain and defensive leader. Played some wide receiver in high school. Good hands with ability to make difficult interceptions. Attacks ball at high-point. Moves well as high-low safety. Extended range in run support and doesn't mind the physical side of the position. Has secondary motor for extended pursuit. Good football and personal character. Productive three-year starter.

WEAKNESSES

Displays obvious coverage limitations. Below-average instincts when asked to play deep safety. Slow to see it, with marginal recovery speed. Struggles in man coverage. Grabby at the top of the route and lacks feet to match and mirror. Slow to digest route combinations out of bunch formations. Comes downhill against run quickly, but out of control at times. Needs improvement as a wrap-up tackler.

DRAFT PROJECTION

Round 6 or 7

BOTTOM LINE
A limited, run-support safety whose coverage issues could be an issue for NFL teams looking for diverse safety play. He's a willing tackler who plays with range in run support, but Richards' lack of instincts and ability to stick receivers in space could limit his NFL opportunities.

Really? Undrafted free agents make this team every year. Is that a reason to go for them in the second round?
The udfa with the largest bonus last year was the 999th best player in the draft.

Really? Other than Vollmer, show me a 2nd round reach by BB that turned into a pleasant surprise.

For every one Vollmer, I'll give you three Dowlings/Tavon Wilsons/Ron Braces.

I never said second round reach. I am talking reaches in general. The following players were considered reaches for the Pats (off the top of my head):

Deion Branch (there is a second rounder for you)
Ty Warren
Logan Mankins

I'm personally utterly amazed at how many people on here apparently know more about Football than Bill Belichick and aren't in any kind of NFL employment.

Does the name Jamie Collins ring a bell? How about Matt Light or Deion Branch? Eugene Wilson and Brandon Spikes also say hello.

There were legitimate knocks on all these players coming out of the draft.

No, no-one can criticise the pick, at least not until they've watched the tape.
