I swear there are only a handful of teams who view the draft in context to other drafts. It seems like others just rank the players against themselves, as though each draft automatically provides 32 "first round talents", 32 "second round talents", etc. Because of this, there is so much overhype on so many players leading up to the draft that it takes a statement like this from Kraft to realize for the first time that it is, in fact, a weak draft. Now I know.

But yeah I wonder if teams take any leaked info out of New England seriously. Kraft is probably fairly likely to tell the truth but otherwise id ignore everything coming from there. Man the lies they've made up from fake leaks about Brady over the years lol. If it's leaked it was done on purpose or just made up entirely.

I'll be watching the hockey game tomorrow night which should be over around 10:30. Perfect timing to switch over and see their pick, or see what they got for a trade. Otherwise I think I would probably skip it entirely this year.

There aren't a lot of exceptional players at the top of the draft. Even the two quarterbacks are extremely suspect and likely to bust. That doesn't mean they're trading out. To automatically go into the draft with the foregone conclusion that you're trading out is idiotic. I would want any GM that does that to be fired immediately. What the Pats will do is go in with their big board, let the chips fall where they may, see if their guy is still available, and if they want to trade back, they'll trade back. I can all but guarantee you that they're not going into the draft with the intention of trading out of the first round.

I agree the top of the draft is pretty weak but it gets better as the first round goes on. By pick 25 rolls around the value is actually pretty good compared to the average year at that spot I'd guess. I could see a trade in either direction at that point depending. Anything higher would surprise me as I just don't evaluate the top 20 players that highly compare to most years.

I usually end up watching basketball instead. Not worth staying up anymore just to see Pats trade back when first and second rounds have their own nights now.

Overall the draft has ~20 or so players that have received legit 1st round, blue chip grades. In other years, this year's players that are picked after ~#20 would theoretically be 2nd rounders in drafts with more 1st round grades. That's the argument anyway for trading down and paying less for the talent. Doesn't matter as much anymore but still...

Depending on how they project the depth of the potential talent pool in the 2016 draft, they may trade out of the 1st round and stockpile picks for next year.

Would the Pats make the jump from 32 to ~20 if someone they really like and addresses a need slips? I'd love to see it but I doubt it would happen.

It's tampering. The Patriots expressed interest in players who are not yet free agents in the middle rounds of the draft.

I have no idea what the Pats will do, I mean trading back seems to make sense here but at the same time they dont really have the roster spots for a ton of rookies so maybe trading up makes sense. We shall see
