No. Actually, you completely effed up my quote. You may or may not like Fletcher. But, the dude has started 53 NFL games at CB. That certainly meets the test of "NFL caliber CB". There are very few players who have started 53 NFL games at cornerback.

He may not be a good cornerback for the Patriots, but he's, by definition, an NFL caliber CB.

If we are going to evaluate our GM's performance based on whether other teams and their fans are "laughing at us", then we're kind of ignoring the actual facts on the ground over the past 15 years and worrying about people who know little and have accomplished even less. I'm amazed that any Pats fan would be concerned with the opinions of fans from other teams "laughing at us" in March. Pretty much the same people who were screaming "Cheatriots!" and "Tom Brady is in decline!". May they snigger in March as much as they want.

McClain is about right but Fletcher has a base salary of well over vet minimum. Unless my numbers are way off.

On first impression and having watched Eagles games, I am not fond of this signing. That said, I am prepared to give Fletcher an opportunity and leave the pitchfork mentality until it gets closer to the season. Perhaps he improves, perhaps the Patriots continue to work the position.

Waynes, Johnson, Peters and co. must surely be on the Patriots board. I can't believe this will be the CB unit the team carries into the season.
