It's easy, and only takes a few moments. While I don't need it, I find myself reminded how much we all should love Brady.... Right now, Drew Brees has a $26.5 million cap hit. If they cut him or if he retires, there's a $33.5 million dead money hit. ...
Kenny Vaccaro please.
Pats fans always want a shiny new toy. Browner would never fit here and plus doesn't he have character issues? PASSTrade for Browner!
They don't have the cap room to unload Brees. Trading him would increase their 2015 cap number by $7 million over keeping him. A $33.5 million dead money cap hit is no joke.
But if they are just worried about cash that increased cap hit wouldn't matter as long as they can stay under the cap.
How the #### did they put themselves in this cap hell; they have good players and a good QB
Cash is not the problem for the Saints (well, it might be, but it's not the big problem). They were way over the cap last week. Complete cap jail cutting and restructuring just to get under the cap. And, unable to do it except to take steps that are very painful -- like trading Graham one year after signing him and cutting several good players.
they did most of their trimming a few days ago to meet the deadline, and it was mostly expected and uneventful stuff to the point where they were cutting new deals like ingram's.
brees could probably even squeeze out some more if they actually needed it.
