Grigson said the Colts notified the league earlier in the week of the AFCCG about some concerns with the Patriots.

So if colts ran to the NFL before the game and the NFL didn't tell Pats of the concerns then doesn't that pretty make this whole thing a sting?

It also raises even more suspicion about the ball the colts intercepted.

Also raises the question about the K ball that Scott Miller lifted. If the story is true that only the K ball was under 2lbs PSI then is Miller and Kensil in kahoots?

This is a fantastic point. If I'm the Colts, and I truly believe that the Patriots are gaining an advantage by having inappropriately inflated footballs, so the league says, "Okay, we'll catch them at halftime when you play them in the AFCCG." Let me get this straight... you want me to play a half of disadvantaged football in the biggest game of the year so you can run a sting? Go pound sand. Make sure they know you're watching for this game, then run your sting next year when it doesn't mess with an important game.

So, the league sets up a sting operation to catch the Patriots, but yet they do not document the the PSI before the game or when they tested the footballs at halftime. Who was running the sting? This guy?

Here's an alternative scenario:

1) Harbaugh tips off the Pagano about underinflated footballs, either because he doesn't understand weather or they want to intentionally make a bad situation for the Patriots.

2) Grigson reports it to the NFL. The NFL says, "Not a big deal, but we'll keep an eye on it."

3) The craziness with the league employee happens, he's caught stealing a football, there's some confusion about the kicking balls, and an investigation begins into THAT situation.

4) Grigson, assuming this investigation is about the underinflated footballs, tells Bob Kravitz that the Patriots are being investigated.

5) The media hysteria ensues, which forces the NFL to actually look into that or they appear to be ignoring what the masses has made into a big deal.

Unfortunately for the NFL, they never intended to look into the inflation of the footballs because for 8 years no one has ever cared. So they have no pre-game data, no halftime data, and have to hire Ted Wells to come up with SOMETHING so they don't look like idiots. Too late.

3) The Pats, despite what we all hope, and despite all of our anger about this issue, and despite what looks like vidication at this moment, will still get punished by the NFL. I would not be shocked with a $100,000 fine and a loss of a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I would be COMPLETELY shocked if the Colts get in trouble, I doubt there is any proof the Colts deflated the footballs (I hope there is though). I doubt the NFL referees will get in trouble for not logging the weights of the footballs prior to the game. I think it will all fall on us (Pats organization).

I pray that I am wrong, I pray something comes out proving someone else is at fault. But this whole thing has always been about GETTING the Patriots.

It's difficult to say with any certainty where these stories are going, because they've been all over the place, but I'd be very surprised if the Patriots end up with punishment. Theodore Wells would have to come up with some documented communication to prove the Patriots knowingly deflated footballs after the initial check. I'm willing to bet the physicists will be more convincing of an exoneration than the way the whole mess has been handled.

What the league did... that's a whole different thing. They've screwed this up so badly that at this point I think everyone wants to move on with the rest of their lives.

It will be sweet to crush the Colts again next year! Luck is good. They have 2 decent TE's. They have a few good CB's. Other than that he needs a team that doesn't play so soft. Good luck fixing all that and adding skill players at WR and RB all in one offseason. Result: Pats 41 Colts 14... for the foreseeable future.

That's a good point. We know the officials weren't notified, so its not clear how seriously the NFL took this.

If thats the case, they were right to not take it seriously. But very wrong not to do their homework on why. PV = nRT

It's been repeatedly reported that Grigson said the Colts reported their suspicions. I want to know, specifically and in detail, how it is that the Colts came by their 'suspicions'.

Who, by name, first suspected something wrong with a Pats ball? When? Why?

Who, specifically, by name, in the NFL offices was told of those 'suspicions'?

Who, by name, were the others who carried these' suspicions' from person one to the NFL person?

And who, by name, initiated the 'investigation'?

Does that include the Pars and their fans?

Because I don't want to move on until the Pats gets restitution; a couple of high draft picks at least, some involved antagonists being fired and a lengthy and well publicized statement from the league exhonerating the Pats for all of this. As well as a full explanation of what the Pats were actually punished for in CameraPlacementGate as well as a reduction in the penalties to suit the offense.
