yes.......and I said as much in a reply to someone else

stop being a ****........it's ok to disagree........start with 'how the **** would you know' and you get it back in spades

I asked because you DON'T know. Stop contradicting yourself, then maybe, just maybe people can actually take you seriously. Saying you don't have the facts then saying someone let the air out is ridiculous. Stop while you're ahead.

"But if it deflated from 12.5 to 12.3, it would. So we will take steps in the future to make sure we don’t put ourselves in that type of potential situation again."

Why would BB use these specific numbers, unless the balls really were down only .2 psi when they were rechecked at the half?

If that turns out to be the case, I might never stop laughing.

listening to D&C on weei and getting frustrated.......

first and foremost the idea that this is the first time BB ever didn't take direct blame is BS.

Interesting that he used .2 psi down. Perhaps Mort got mixed up between 2 and .2 and BB knows the real numbers that the footballs were down. Oh that would be funny.

^^^^^ I said as much earlier in the thread. There is NO WAY BB would have been this specific with numbers without knowing EXACTLY how much the balls came in under psi. He made a SPECIFIC point to state that being on the low side (12.5 psi) provided NO margin of error for a .2 PSI drop (used that number), while having a slightly overinflated ball did allow for the .2 PSI drop (again, using that specific example). I read into that that he does acknowledge that there was a drop to "technical under inflation", but one that could easily be corrected by adding a smidge more air to start.

As has been discussed (ad nausium), such a small margin of psi drop (like .2 to .7 psi), absent any HARD evidence could easily be explained by external temps, and or in-game conditions (like 300 linemen repeatedly landing on them). The NFL is in a pickle. They have "minimally", but technically deflated balls, and no real evidence of how they got that way. They "have" to do something (because of the technical violation and that its the Patriots), but it's obvious that they cannot "hang" BB, TB, or the Patriots in general. Look for a minor fine and a stern letter to all teams about "manipulating their balls" going forward.

Or Mort decided .2 wasn't a story but 2 was. The guy has zero credibility.

^^^ This..... Plus is gives him plausible deniability. OOOOOOH, you said .2 and not 2 psi. My bad.... At least I got the under inflation part right? Damage done, then easily explained away when the truth gets revealed. Mort is not as Naive and Tommase was. He didn't completely make shizzz up, he just "accidentally" overstated the amount by 2000%. Simple mix-up.

And we are making judgements or speculations from information or rather speculations that a Media Network<(using that term rather loosely) (ESPN) came out with from day one? Seems odd that ESPN would be given such privy information so early on.

Lets all remember, they were WRONG about Walsh having walkthrough tape, yet they acted as though it was written in stone and had the nerve to ask Mr Kraft about it the day OF the SB.......Chris Berman did that and I will always hate the guy and ESPN for being such hack jobs.

this one is a little less complicated...... based on the alleged details to date combined with the possibility of actually implementing such an act certainly makes it possible........you have to be ready for that possibility........and not plug your ears and refuse to believe is the logical possibilities.

Why would they bother? They're about to issue an entire report on it.

But BB's example seems too calculated and precise to be nothing.

Why would they bother? This whole thing went to new heights - or rather lows - once Mort gave that 2 psi and the 11 balls #.

It painted the officials in a bad light, questioned the process, and is now putting them into a unattractive position of preparing a report on what exactly happened. All just 10 days before the SB. To prevent this unnecessary distraction to them, I believe that they would have leaked the actual difference if it was indeed that tiny. Technically take the air off this smear. ;)

His statement said a lot more than that. He said that he had no sympathy with players' complaints about the condition of the ball and that he made the condition worse if they did complain during practice. He was explaining himself. That is "un-Belichickian." This got to him.

BB stated "I’ve told you everything I know", "I have no explanation for what happened" to virtually every single question he was asked. This is not classic 'we're on to <fill in team name> BB?
As far as his prepared opening statement, agreed, it was not overly classic BB. It was a bit more effusive and detailed than normal. We learned the profound details of: he has no idea about football inflation or pregame handling, he trains his players hard, this <phony> scandal was a great surprise to him, going forward they'll pump more air into the ball, and he doesn't whine about losing.
Exactly which things you learned from his prepared statement are striking and lead one to believe "this got to him"?

Facts??? Since when have those ever been important?

Ha-hah! Well said. In the court of public opinion and this anti-Pats atmosphere, who cares about it.

I do, because I need it to decide.

And, assuming this whole circus is a big joke (as I sincerely hope), use those facts to taunt those who call Beli-cheat or us cheaters.

I asked because you DON'T know. Stop contradicting yourself, then maybe, just maybe people can actually take you seriously. Saying you don't have the facts then saying someone let the air out is ridiculous. Stop while you're ahead.

I already said it was an assumption, but a logical one.

you just seem to have your heels dug in that it is not possible for any of it to be true......I believe someone let air out.....it looks that way to me. Maybe there's a logical conclusion that says otherwise, but if I were to lay money down, I'd say that someone did let air out

wrong..........that was directed to you.........not all of you
It was directed at the facts that were being discussed.
Are you now saying that I don't know the facts, you don't know the facts, but the other posters do?

only you and I were in the conversation at the time........it was only a reference to the likelihood that both of us have the same information

none of this was meant to be blown out into what it has been blow out to.....I played out what I thought the scenario would be based on the assumption of guilt which in my mind was logical with the information provided so far. if you want to nitpick the info and say 'mort can't be right', that's your prerogative....I wasn't questioning the validity either way.

It's really not a big deal.......even if guilt is confirmed, the penalty is going to be minimal......$25K fine will be the worst case.

It is also possible that there is simply a lack of information to say any individual is guilty of anything and that the league will review the process in the offseason

those are my 2 most likely scenarios

What are the chances the NFL just comes out and says they received a complaint from the Colts, investigated it, found that the balls were below 12.5 PSI but there is no evidence that the Patriots had anything to do with it. They will clarify the rules on pressure in the off season. The NFL hasn't painted themselves in a corner yet, unidentified sources and the press has.

Its actually the opposite, which is why it turned into what it did.
You, without the facts, were saying with certainty that air was taken from the ball, Brady would be a liar and cheater if he denied it, and he will be fined.
I said you can't conclude that without the facts.

If you said all along that you were basing this on a guess and accepted that it was without factual basis, we could have avoided all this, but instead you dug your heels in the sand.

In the words of the illustrious Troy Brown "Bingo"

They should say that, but Roger Goodell and company don't necessarily do the right thing
