Ok....maybe we can settle some of this here....can someone with a leather football inflate it indoors to 12.5 psi and then drench it with water and put in in the fridge for 4 hours and then measure the aftermath? Video the process and post here. I think it could help all of us. I have 2 girls so I only have Barbies and Frozen dolls. Some one do this!

Someone already did.

Inflated it to 15 PSI in a 64.5 degree room. Put it in a 37 degree refrigerator for an hour and it had dropped ~ 2 PSI

oh....BB is going to ask him to shut up... While I like our guys expressing their opinion on this, right now it will only create more stories.....

That's the one thing that gives me significant hope: the Patriots *aren't* pouring a gag order here. GRONK'S tweet is still up.

Is there such a thing as a good divorce? ;)

NOT SAFE FOR WORK! But skip ahead to 1:10 for your answer: "Divorce is always good news."

Tell you what if the pats did find some sort of scheme , then I must know how they did this.. I must know it would be like knowing the secret of a cool magic trick or how they escaped from Alcatraz or something.

The goal posts to the argument keep moving each time someone as a counter argument so often, it is impossible to put anything in perspective.
Hurry up NFL!
If the Pats did mess with it, the most likely method that I have seen posed would be filling the balls with hot air just prior to the refs testing it. By game time, the PSI would drop a predictable amount.

I want to know what the NFL is going to do about the Patriots being forced to play the first half with an inferior football that didn't meet specifications. We have have scored 60 if they didn't give us a bad football.

I'll have to admit I'm pretty conflicted right now, because the indications seem to point to some level of "tacit cheating" that has been allowed to perpetuate within the Patriot's organization.

Does this behavior have a significant impact on the outcomes of these games? Probably not, which makes it all the more frustrating for those of us who identify with our teams....and in doing so, expect the same standards of honor/ethics/professionalism that we live by in our every-day lives.

Nevertheless, some additional perspective to consider:

1) Does anyone wonder why the kicking balls are provided by the NFL itself, kept in the absolute control of the refs over the total duration of the game, and utilized by both teams....whereas the game balls are allowed to be "groomed" over the course of months by the individual QBs/Teams, with little to no rules pertaining to such grooming, other than the psi window (12.5 - 13.5), which must be met prior to the game?? And don't we now suspect that those pre-game "inspections" are not rigorously/routinely/uniformly carried out across the League? Wouldn't it be relatively easy for the game balls to be in the control of the same NFL employee who currently has custody of those kicking balls? How big is a bag of 12 footballs? How big is a bag of 6 footballs? Doesn't this constitute a concession by the NFL that they are putting an emphasis on the entertainment value of the game by allowing its QBs to optimize their ability on offense? Therefore, unless the NFL can demonstrate a consistent and rigorous attention to detail on this issue, I don't see how they can remove themselves from the overall culpability on this matter. This doesn't absolve the Patriots, however.
2) We already have significant evidence that current QBs (both Mannings, Rogers) have been allowed to influence the NFL's stance on the subject of footballs, and their desired characteristics, which goes to the lack of consistency by the NFL. The Vikings/Panthers example can also be cited. If the NFL can't demonstrate consistency in their leadership posture, it makes any disciplinary action (that they may impose) suspect.
3) I think that the NFL should conduct a survey....to include current and past referees, current and past QBs/coaches in the league, and the NFL itself...to determine the acceptable standard/characteristics for its game balls, a standard that addresses both grooming practices and pressure windows. With regard to the pressure window, maybe a range of 11 - 14 psi should be embraced, thereby allowing each QB/Team the latitude to tailor its balls to correspond with the expected environmental conditions. In fact, it could be said that the outdoor teams...especially those outdoor teams that experience a broad range of weather conditions over the course of the playing season, are at a distinct disadvantage to those teams in more "weather-friendly" geographic regions.

Look out: A Patriot actually just tweeted on the subject:

Brandon Browner ✔ @bbrowner27
For my 2cents Blount scored 3 rushing touchdowns. He could've carried a beach ball. Also doesn't hurt we only gave up 7 points
It's the defense that I really feel bad for. I'm sick to my stomach for guys like Browner, Revis, Wilfork, etc.

i love you browner.. you are the man!

Ya everyone is failing to realize Luck had his worst game of his NFL career and made one good play in the game which was the 36 yard pass to Hilton on their only TD drive which was extended by a BS illegal contact call on Collins on 3rd and 7

Doesn't mean anything. BB, Brady and co. could be in the process of having their asses handed to them by the league so that's the least of their worries.

La Canfora actually has a very good piece on this and concludes it is widespread in the NFL, and his analogy is right on the money. It's the pine tar incident, when George Brett hit a home run and Billy Martin challenged it and had the home run disqualified. Brett freaked out and rightly so as using pine tar above a certain point on bats was a common practice. What was called for was a clarification, not a sanction, and the same logic applies here. All that is called for is a change in policy, not a lynching.

oh....BB is going to ask him to shut up... While I like our guys expressing their opinion on this, right now it will only create more stories.....

I have to disagree. I think if there's ever been a time for our own players to speak up, it's now.

Remaining quiet only makes the team look more guilty...

Watching people here trying to justify this with the "the NFL should...." type stuff, and spinning ridiculous "what if" scenarios,

is sad.

Before I reply to your comment, from which angle are you coming? Don't want to inadvertently start debating a point we're actually agreeing on :D

.
Please explain the concept that cheating is perpetuated in the Patriots organization.

They were penalized for breaking a rule by conducting acceptable taping, but from an incorrect location, and had a reasonable defense where the rule specifically stated it applied if you were using the film in that game, which they did not.

Balls were under inflated and no one yet knows if the Patriots had anything to do with that.

What else you got?

Funny how legal formations is "unethical" and `against the spirit of the rules,` but the Giants purposfully eating 12 men on the field penalties to kill NE's chance to march down the field and score in the final minutes of the Superbowl, while killing the clock, is perfectly fine.

Now a week later it's "deflate-gate"

I don't know why Patriot fans listen to this ****!
