I think you're not understanding. The question is not whether JG is as good as Brady next year or the year after. I agree that that is not likely on a current basis. But, you also have to take into account the $9M annual cap savings and the opportunity to lock up JG long term. Thus, if JG is good, though not as good as Brady on a current basis, they still would consider moving on from Brady because of the other benefits of doing so. For example, if they let Brady play out his deal, JG will hit the free agent market. If they let JG start in 2016, they can lock him up before he hits the open market (or, if it turns out he sucks, determine that they need to go in another direction). If they think JG can be really good in the future, they will do this even though he is not better than Brady on a current basis.
