Tom Brady is still the #1 QB in the league.

I know youre a mod, but tread lightly when it comes to the Christian Kitty. Say Tebows name 3 times on this forum and she will appear with great fury and sensitivity.

No HE won't.

(BTW, found out he was lying about THAT too!) :)

It's a strange world.

Won't happen before we're approaching on retirement territory for #12 making the point pretty much moot.
Doubtful Tom is going to play beyond the conclusion of his contract, and JG isn't going to become an MVP candidate next year, or the year after.

I really don't understand why this is so hard to wrap your head around.

If it "isn't the reality" then stop talking about it.

I don't think the sky is blue because we live in the eye of a giant named Mucumba, but I also don't spend my time arguing that "it's possible" either

I think you're not understanding. The question is not whether JG is as good as Brady next year or the year after. I agree that that is not likely on a current basis. But, you also have to take into account the $9M annual cap savings and the opportunity to lock up JG long term. Thus, if JG is good, though not as good as Brady on a current basis, they still would consider moving on from Brady because of the other benefits of doing so. For example, if they let Brady play out his deal, JG will hit the free agent market. If they let JG start in 2016, they can lock him up before he hits the open market (or, if it turns out he sucks, determine that they need to go in another direction). If they think JG can be really good in the future, they will do this even though he is not better than Brady on a current basis.

Edit: Our esteemed poster, rlcarr explained this more eloquently than I in a post in your other thread on this topic.

A glimmer of understanding. You're making progress.

But the last line? Ask your parents about the importance of insurance.

Teams fall over themselves to sign franchise quarterbacks for monstrous contracts. You cannot compete in this league with sub-standard or even average quarterback play, as demonstrated by numerous teams now sitting at home who otherwise have strong rosters.

Tom Brady having MVP caliber seasons for less than half his worth is easily the greatest value roster-spot on the New England Patriots. They aren't going to release him to save 9M a year while paying a cornerback 14.

In the other thread you were arguing the possibility that Belichick thinks JG is Tom's successor because "he has never said one way or the other," to paraphrase.

This weekend he said "There's no quarterback I'd rather have than Tom Brady."

So I think we can close the book on your speculations into the mind of Belichick. I don't even know why he would have to say that to convince you, since he already laughed at the reporter who asked him if QB evaluations were in order. Maybe he needs to hold a presser and inform the world all the reasons why JG couldn't hold Tom's jock strap for you to finally just abandon this farce while it isn't even close to relevant

Good gawd awmighty! Here comes another ESL lesson for pats16N0:

" the possibility that Belichick thinks JG is Tom's successor because "he has never said one way or the other,":

Yes. POSSIBILITY. Not CERTAINTY or even PROBABILITY. But a definite POSSIBILITY.

1)BB used a 2nd round pick on Garropolo
2) and sent Mallet away at the very end of training camp, leaving only one backup QB
3)The FO and TFB renegotiated an easier release strategy with more freedom for TFB to make his own landing pad decisions in the future

This makes it a CERTAINTY??????

No it makes it a POSSIBILITY.

Does it make it a CERTAINTY that the FUTURE successor will be Garropolo?

No, it makes it a POSSIBILITY.

I don't think the sky is blue because we live in the eye of a giant named Mucumba

Actually, you've written thousands of words proving you do.

Super Bowl 49 Seattle Seahawks - New England Patriots say hi.

There is zero possibility the Patriots release a fully functioning Tom Brady to move on to an unknown commodity back up in order to save cap space. Sorry.

What drives me crazy about the Brady detractors is that they claim Brady's AFCC and Super Bowl losses somehow tarnish his record.

So, Montana is 4 - 0 in Super Bowl play. Great. What people neglect to mention is that Montana lost in the wild card round for 3 straight years, or that Montana's '49ers only managed to score a combined total of 19 points in 3 playoff losses to the Giants, or that in 1987, Montana's 13-2 '49ers lost to some guy named Wade Wilson and his 8-7 Vikings.

Brady has advanced deeper into the playoffs more often and more consistently than any other QB who has ever played the game. He is unfairly criticized for his losses because they came on a bigger stage. The fact that he has led his teams to this stage as often as he has is astounding. To say he is a lesser QB that Montana because his losses came in the AFCC and Super Bowl instead of the wild card round is illogical and statistically bogus.

This drives me insane as well. When Brady gets his 4th, these people will somehow claim that 4-0 is better than 4-2. Maybe in winning percentage but that's about it. Losing in the Super Bowl is a helluva lot better than going one and done.

Define, in QB terms "fully functioning".

Not surprised that went over your head. Most everyone else here, knowing the current salary cap numbers on Brady and Wilson got it.

You're comparing JG to a Superbowl winning quarterback who contributed heavily to blowing the doors off the "bestest offense of all time?"

LOL

Hilarious, but so is every other aspect of your ridiculous position on this matter, so I'm not surprised.

Fully agree.

I would take Jim Kelly over Trent Dilfer every day.

Tom Brady being Tom Brady, and Tom Brady doing what Tom Brady does.

You still don't understand the concept of insurance.

This is what make Bill Belichick great and why people like you will never get it.

You evidently believe Brady may never get hurt or may diminish when he hits 40.

Gee, Pats16N0, why don't we just have 22 players on the roster???????

Who needs a practice squad?????????

You still don't understand the concept of insurance.

You still don't understand the difference between renegotiating a 24 million dollar, 3 year guarantee, with a 37 year old quarterback, and "preparing to move on to JG to save cap space."

Please inform me how Wilson and JG are even comparable players. I simply cannot wait.

One is a Superbowl winning quarterback with a brutal historic beatdown win against Peyton Manning's talent stacked offense, and one holds a clipboard.

How old are you?

Ask your parents for a DVD of SB36.

Tom Brady did not play a down against the "bestest offense of all time".

He smartly and very poised led the Patriots to 20 points in SB 36. He was 16-27 for 134 yards that day. And he was 24 years old.

What does this have to do with comparing JG to Russel Wilson?

Now you're comparing JG to Tom Brady too?

LOL

Keep them coming. I love comedy hour over a morning cup of coffee.
