Clearly this is not acceptable. As a society we have progressed past this sort of thinking. The issue is with one neanderthal, not an institution like the Patriots. We need to stop empowering the fringe element by paying any attention to their shtick.

Yet media can make a story that reaches and even influences many millions of people based on a handful of motivated people with an internet connection. I think it sucks that immaturity was shown by some idiot that may hurt others, and I think it sucks that the story gained attention to begin with.

As @TheBostonStraggler stated, we see this crap all the time in various comment sections, and that includes everything from entertainment, to sports and many subjects in between.

Since the Patriots brand will gain more attention than some back page story about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, deadspin will gladly use the opportunity to get some clicks.

The immature side of me found it pretty funny, but it really is something they should have thought of.

Automation on an individual basis is always a train wreck when you have enemies. And the Patriots' have a lot of enemy fans, more than a few are going to realize what the script is written to do and know how to make the Patriots' PR look foolish.
