I apologize. I shouldn't have let myself get sucked into another "our drafts have been terrible" discussion. There is a small group who thinks that Belichick drafts badly. Almost all of them post on patriot message boards. The rest of the world (who, of course counts for nothing), think that Belichick know how to draft, to trade, and in general how to secure talent.
Absolutely no need to apologize whatsoever. I appreciate the fact that you try and have the truth told to those that doubt Belichick's overall success.
I feel that Belichick has been a very good GM/drafter over the course of the long haul, and I believe that there are only 2 teams (PIT and GB) who consistently use more "home grown" talent, so the proof is certainly out there.
I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just believe that the period of (approx) '05--'09 was pretty bad, so I can relate to those who were starting to get worried. In the end though, we share the same belief that Belichick has been pretty good. After all, no one is perfect, and there will always be blemishes.
In that specific drafting period, something needed to be changed. It seems that whatever issue was there has been corrected, because things have been back to normal, with a decent rate of starting players + success.
