Report (Unconfirmed) - Patriots sign Brandon Browner

Of course he is. I said that the minute his deal was announced. It was a horrible contract, especially in a bear market for CBs last year. But we're stuck with that deal for at least 1 more year, possibly 2.

Never looked at the intricacies of the deal apart from his cap hit but judging by the responses i'm assuming it's one of those 'suck it up and deal with it for the time being' contracts?

The money we are paying for this slot corner who can only play there and no where else because he is a liability otherwise is too much.

Arrington is HUGELY overpaid IMO

Arrington does one thing extremely well, and that's covering in the slot. He is paid like a top slot cover guy. How he performs in other positions is irrelevant to his value as a slot corner. It's like saying that Slater doesn't deserve to be paid like a top STer because he wasn't very good on defense a few years ago.

Browner is used to seeing a lot of passes going his way having played opposite an elite CB so he will be fine with being paired opposite Revis too you would think so it makes him the perfect #2 CB.

Hopefully Dennard doesn't miss 4 games thanks to Goodell so he can start the season at #2 then move to the Nickel when Browner is back.

Several things:

- I doubt Browner will see a lot of time at CB. He is a zone CB. He could play there in zone coverage, but when they play man it will be Dennard or Ryan.
- I don't think Dennard will see any suspension time. Players usually get suspended when they are sentenced. It won't be four games if he does.
- Ryan could make the second year jump and win the starting job over Dennard.

Fair point but even though he is decent in the slot i still don't see things that jump out to me saying pay the man. He is a high character and high motor guy and i do like his attitude but his play leaves alot to be desired.

Per Miguel on Patscap:

- 2014: $3.625M cap hit; $5.875M dead money if cut/traded. We'er stuck with Arrington - it costs over $2M more to cut him than to keep him.
- 2015: $4.625M cap hit; $3.25M dead money if cut/traded, $1.425M savings. On the edge - way too expensive, but is the cap savings worth the dead money hit?
- 2016: $5.125M cap hit; $1.625M dead money if cut/traded (remaining portion of signing bonus), $3.5M cap savings. Definitely gone.

I completely agree, it's a terrible contract. But we're stuck with it for this year, and 2015 is iffy.

PFT reporting he is visiting WSH today.

Still don't understand how that contract happened. Yeah he's a stud in the slot but, how is a niche corner worth that much but a slot wide out isn't worth very much.

I trust nothing reported by PFT. NOTHING! Hell I don't trust the media period.

Per Breer, his agent is saying that Mr. Browner Goes to Washington today...

Albert Breer ? @AlbertBreer 2 Redskins sources tell @RapSheet and I that Browner's trip to DC was called off. Agent Peter Schaffer says "plan is for him to go this AM."

If that report is true, it sounds like an agent doing what an agent gets paid to do... drive the price up for his client. I think (and hope) Browner stays here. Would love to watch Welker's feet fly completely over his head off a hit by Browner.

So his agent says he is going this am to visit. Breer and rap say canceled. So this isn't confusing

i think he had 10 ints that season prior to signing it.

This to and fro thing reminds me of one PayME A TON Manning, There was a lot of speculation as to where Manning was flying to the next day, the media frenzy was crazy.

Nah his big interception season was 2011 with 7. He had zero in 2012.

Conflicting reports on twitter. So I guess we have to wait for official word on this. NFL network guys say he is in Boston Profootballtalk and ESPN say otherwise. In any case after watching him light up 3 guys on the same play lets just say we need him:

PFT is usually money. Their opinionated stuff just sucks.

Florio's report that Moss was going to be cut by the Patriots in the summer of 2007 says "Hello".
