Who starts at tight end THIS YEAR considering Gronk tore his ACL just 3 months ago and won't be ready for the start of the year?

What?

He's going to be ready for Training Camp at the latest and in a video posted today on Chandler Jones Instagram walking with no limp talking about how he just "killed it" in a rehab session.

Yeah, I think it's very likely the Patriots would shell out 9+ million for a non-elite CB.

Didn't realize he wanted that much

I have not seen any reports of Browner signing a contract with anyone.

neither have I, what does that have to do with him leaving? They could be working on something right now. When he's in washington, fine you will hear about it and we can move from there. As of now, afawk he's still in NE.

That 2nd year on the Revis contract is pretty clearly there just to lower his cap hit this year and get some extra negotiating time if there's no new deal signed during the season.

It also ensures that they can't franchise tag him. If you decline a player's option, they have to be released and the tag can't be used.

It's a smart contract, that second year could be used as a jumping off point for an extension or Revis simply gets to walk. It also saves us cap money up front which is very helpful.

Browner would be a nice add but the money has to be right. We have multiple needs to address in free agency.

Unless he has a set back..he will be starting week 1

ACLs no longer take 1.5 years to heal from. Look at how quick welker was back. Gronk is young and seems to be healing great

I'm telling you right now, if Revis, is still the best shut down corner in the game BB won't let him hit FA. No way.

Revis is a once in a lifetime type player that we just got in his prime. That opportunity doesn't come around very often. BB won't lowball him. He'll pay him.

I know the Pats are known as hard ball negotiators, but you can't compare the Welker, Edelman, etc type situations to a guy like Revis. Welker and Edelman were good players, Revis is a whole different level. Revis is more comparable to Brady.

AP aside, most players still have down years in year one of the post-op.

I really want them to sign Browner, but not as a CB, but as a SS. Perhaps that role doesn't appeal to Browner. If so onto the next need.

We need a pass catching TE besides Gronk to fill the hole left by AH criminal acts.

We need help at DE to lessen the workload on Chandler Jones & Ninko,

We need a WR to CYA in case Dobson doesn't heal correctly.

Browner as a CB isn't a high leverage situation, as a SS most important FA on the market for this team.

Yeah, this.
You can replace Welker and Edelman even if they don't think so in negotiations. These guys get proven wrong time and time again.

There's only one Revis. For anyone not familiar with who Revis is, it's 1995 and we just signed Deion Sanders

Yup, unfortunately we don't have michael Irvin or the cowboys O-line/d-line...at least not yet

Question is, can Browner play SS?

That is what Jamie Collins was suppose to be... a DE.

WR, yes. I wanted Decker, but he's a JET. Emmanuel Sanders is still out there. Hakeem Nicks would be ok.

Will need a NT once Patriots cut Wilfork..

Actually, we signed a Deion Sanders who can tackle.

Well he is better in coverage than the vast majority of SS, he is 6'4" 220 and is a hard hitter. The better question is why wouldn't he be a great SS.

Actually Collins was a 'tweener' who provides the most leverage a a LB who has the physical skills and length to cover big TE's and blitz. IOW they put him in the best position to impact the game. As they should do with Browner, if he open to that. As they have done with McCourty who was drafted as a CB and now is a FS.

Well Depending on how Kelley recovers and Armstead condition we may be fine at DT. Silinga helped the run D.

Browner is a physical DB. I would argue being able to play SS means he gets to lay the wood a fair bit more than he would at Corner. Frankly, I want our entire D to play with a nasty attitude. Cop a flag every now and then to let the opponent know you're not coming over the middle and leaving without a few bruises.

Let's be clear. Signing Brown for a $1M or $2 per year withe idea of him competing with Harmon for the starting SS position has to be a no-brainer if it can be done.

Of course, I have not understood Belichick's safety acquisitions in a very long time.

Haven't heard of Browner flying to Redskins or anywhere.
