Next Stop, the Underwear Olympics

All three of them check in small in terms of height, weight, and arm length.

Not sure, they would be much and upgrade over Chris Jones – 6015, 302 Lbs. 32 ¾” arms, 9” hands went in the sixth round, unless they display some unbelievable athleticism.

With regards to Easley, those numbers don't show how quick someone is at the snap and Easley is like lightning.

None of these guys will be drafted based on those measurables. It's their explosiveness.

Yeah I know, but can he be an every down DT, or is a sub rusher in your opinion?

Excited for 1 pm. I think Niklas becomes the #2 TE/1st rounder after the 40/vertical.

Travis Swanson may have dropped himself out of the second round with only 20 reps on the 225 Lb. bench.

Just what we don't need, a center that gets pushed around by an opposing big tackle because he's not strong enough.

Measurables do not = football player.

Sub rusher, but in today's NFL that's becoming a blurred line.

The bench press measures endurance rather than functional strength. If you think about it, a lot of a lineman's strength comes from the core and legs which aren't measured by a bench press.

Not that I'm a fan of Swanson but the bench press is a horrible indicator of their functional strength. A few years ago Mitch Petrus tied the bench press record and he's not even in the league anymore. I don't follow the Bears so I don't know how Stephen Paea is doing but I don't think he's lighting things up and he actually broke the bench press record.

OTOH, Aldon Smith did 20 reps, Justin Smith did 26 reps.

What it can tell you is someones commitment to the weight room. 20 reps isn't a huge concern for me with Swanson because of the reasons you mentioned. One guy whose bench is a huge red flag (not that he needed any more) is Colt Lyerla with 15. He hasn't been playing football so the only thing he has had to worry about is preparing for the combine so he has no excuse for not putting up a much better number. It shows he hasn't been working hard enough and you really have to question his commitment to football. It's not like he has long arms even, less than 33". I can't see how he is draftable.

Daniel McCullers has 36 5/8 arms and 11" hands.

@jeffphowe: Texas DE Jackson Jeffcoat told me he met with a Patriots scout here in Indy. Could be a second-round option.

Met with Donald too apparently.

Which is why this floored me (coming from someone at NEPatriotsDraft, no less):

2014 Patriots Draft: Pre-Combine 7-Round Mock Draft | Bleacher Report

5th Round: Colt Lyerla (TE, Oregon)

The New England Patriots don't have any fifth-round selections due to the Isaac Sopoaga trade, but I could see them packaging their two sixth-round picks—one acquired in the Sopoaga trade—to move up and get a player who is tumbling down the board.

Perhaps nobody in the draft has fallen more this season than former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla.

Due to multiple issues away from the football field—you can read all about them from Jeff Risdon of DetroitLionsDraft.com—Lyerla's transcendent talent has been overshadowed.

Lyerla has the speed, power, hands, elusiveness and nearly any other trait you could want for a "Move" tight end. If the Patriots are willing to take a small risk—we're talking about a fifth-round pick here—they could really hit a goldmine.

Adding Lyerla and Niklas to a team with a healthy Rob Gronkowski just doesn't seem fair.

Matt Patchan 1.59 10 yard split for a 6'6" OT. Been touting him for a bit. Lane Johnson had a 1.61 last year.

Stephon Tuitt nearly 35" arms. :rocker:

Tuitt's a guy I'm looking at for the end of round 1, right now.

Wish you told me that sooner, I have been watching this stupid combine things all morning and that's all that happens...

What's all that happens? I'm not sure I take your meaning.

Remember Pat's meetings with prospects and actual selections have no correleation. Pats will select at least three players who were not on anyones radar.

Why would I discount film on a guy to look at various data points which might correlate to his ability to play football? I've seen film on Lyerla and that tells me what I need to know as a player, the only question about him is his mental/emotional state.

It's very possible that Lyerla simply isn't good at benching, which isn't a big deal to me. If he's not training that's a different story, but I can find out whether or not he works hard at training/practice by talking to his former teammates and coaches, yet again, why discount direct evidence in favor of potential correlation?
