What were you right and wrong about last season?

Not open for further replies.
It does not happen a lot but I was wrong about Edleman; I did not see how he could survive the season, but he changed his style quite a bit last season. Instead of fighting for that extra yard as he did in years past, he hit the turf to avoid the big hit like a seasoned WR or RB (Faulk for instance).

lmfao----Yes fred, you and borg have been right about how much the Patriots suck and how bad a job Belichick does for over a decade.

Funniest post I have read in a long long time.

Wrong
Deus is sometimes capable of resisting the temptation of letting everyone know how often he is right about everything.

Right
Deus wont participate in a thread if it means he has to confess to having ever been wrong.

lmao-this is so on the money.

And your predictions for next season are?

The post you quoted is a perfect example of why

A.) I have that poster on ignore, since he likes to follow me around and nip at my heels, even knowing that he's on ignore,

and

B.) I didn't post any "right/wrong" list of mine in order to try letting the thread go on without confrontation. IcyPatriot insists that he can find a whole bunch of things I've been wrong about, so he's welcome to do so in this (or any) thread.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Again, you are watching different games than everyone else. Edelman fought for every yard he could get all season long.

So why don't you just tell us what you were wrong about and let those who are out to bait you argue that you were really right?

A pretty easy one was that I thought the Texans would be in the playoffs. For that matter, I had Atlanta there, too, and we all know how well those two teams did not do this past season.

I'm not sure anyone here would even give a real try to arguing those were really right, though.

Case in point, his highlight reel dive into the EZ against Denver @ Gillette.

Fun idea for a thread! Here's my list:

Pats

Yay: Upgrade needed C and RG
Nay: Solder reaching Pro Bowl level

Yay: Ryan and Harmon providing solid depth at DB
Nay: Sudfeld and Armstead providing solid depth at TE and DT

Yay: Spikes making news for the wrong reasons on and off the field
Nay: <former employee #81> nuff said

Yay: Allen beating out Mesko
Nay: Boyce making an impact returning kicks

League-wide

Yay: Chiefs coming back strong under Reid
Nay: Texans progress to AFCCG

Yay: Seahawks over Niners in NFCCG
Nay: Broncos one-and-done in playoffs

Yay: Very good to great 2nd season for Andrew Luck
Nay: Very good to great 2nd season for RGIII

I live about a half hour from Marshall so I got to see a bit of Dobson before he was drafted. I expected him to fit right in and be the #1 target with sure hands and quick recognition of coverages. He was good on his routes, not perfect, but good. The hands though.. I don't know what happened there. I was pretty excited when he scored a TD on his first catch. Still think he is our most talented WR though.

Some good correct calls and some mistakes from erring on the side of fan optimism ... sounds about the right mix to me!

Wrong: We didn't go 19-0.

Right: I noticed Wendell wiffing on some blocks in 2012 season as well, after watching the replay carefully. People were praising him, and I was kinda confused if I was watching the same thing. Guess it just needed some more exposure... :confused2:

Right: Patriots once again showed the stupid world who they are. And would not have a bad year(by Patriots standards) like all the silly naysayers predicted.

I'll be right about that next season too...

Hopefully I'm right about 19-0 next season too, this time!

Right:

1. Jamie Collins will be used as a coverage LB at first instead of a pass rusher.

2. Letting Welker walk and go to Denver was a bad idea.

3. The Pats didn't do enough at the WR position going into last season.

4. Can't count on Gronk and Amendola to be healthy for the full season.

5. Chandler Jones with double digit sacks.

6. Interior pass protection is a major weakness and Wendell a liability.

Wrong:

1. Tommy Kelly is over the hill and isn't a good signing.

2. Edelman couldn't stay healthy and would not be a major cog in this offense.

3. LeGarrette Blount wouldn't be more than a RB3 on this team.

4. Ridley's fumbling issues would improve.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming....

There's that tired phrase of yours "nipping at my heels"... It is a great example of why you come across as condescending and patronizing in your posts.

Yes, of course you would know that I am perfectly aware that you have me on ignore. You after all took great effort in making sure I knew you were doing so by being as personal and insulting as you could at the time.

In that thread by the way, I and others called you out for referring to Belichick as a Machiavellian idiot...

... you in exchange called us bleating sheep.

And in the posts that followed, I got the better of you a bit and a few of the other posters started crowing about it.

In the cliche of those that dish it being unable to take it, you put me on ignore but made sure to write a paragraph of "bah bah you're an unthinking sheep" references as you announced your intention to do so.

So yes.. since then it has become a little personal I suppose, that joke came about, not from me following you around, but because I found the following to be funny.

a) You have a very prolific history of being confrontational. You refer to this as your admittedly "aggressive posting style".)

b) You have a reputation for being incapable of admitting you are wrong.

c) You came into a thread about people sharing all the ways they've been wrong... and instead of participating you chose to express the hope that the thread remain non-confrontational.

So dichotomy of c) being very like one thing and very much unlike another..

Right

Jamie Collins' athleticism would have him seeing regular snaps by the end of the regular season

Aaron Dobson would be the Pats' most productive rookie receiver

Sebastian Vollmer would not play a full season

The interior of the offensive line would continue to be vulnerable

Brandon Spikes would likely be phased out of the base defense

Tommy Kelly was a good signing

Chandler Jones would be a team defensive MVP candidate if healthy

Talib would injure his hip again

The Pats would win no fewer than 11 games.

Wrong
Gronk would stay healthy once he got back out on the field

Amendola would replace the bulk of Welker's production

Ridley would repeat the success of his second year

Solder would continue to improve

Vereen would more than replace Woodhead's production

Mankins would not be worth his cap hit

Hightower would make a major second-year leap

Gregory would be fine as a starting safety

Mayo and Wilfork have among the highest snap counts on defense

Chandler Jones would make a JPP-like leap into the mid-teens for sacks (14-16)

Blount would not be a major contributor on this team

Dobson would get 700+ yards

Dennard would experience regression from his rookie season

Ive posted the idea a couple of times that I think is fitting this thread.

In our Profile, we could have a Predictions Page(s).

Under that Predictions Page, users could post their thoughts, predictions, draft picks etc.. -anything they want to go on the record about..

After a set number of days whatever they have written there, it becomes permanent and time stamped.

For example (one of the many things I was wrong about this year):

Danger Zone's Prediction's Page:
-We should have cut Blount and kept Washington. September 2013
-Rex Ryan will be fired this off season.. and hired by Belichick to be the Patriot's DC. -- October, 2013

Right:
Bad ideas - signing Onthemendola; not re-signing Woody & The Receiver; bypassing Keenan Allen
for Aaron Dropson; not trying to find another Move TE to help replace The Prisoner; not moving Connolly to Center & Cannon to RG; and not signing John Abraham.
Good move - getting rid of STs-only junk like Rivera, Tracy White & Tarpinian.
And knowing that Tavon Wilson would continue to fail to justify being drafted 48th overall in 2012.

Wrong:
Thinking that Jake the Fake Bequette would contribute more to the DE rotation, and that Jamar Taylor would have a better rookie CB season than Logan Ryan.

I was wrong about the defense. I thought our defense would be terrible, when in fact they were pretty good.

I was right about Adrian Wilson not being productive (sort of). He was on IR the whole season, so I'm not sure if this counts as being "Right."

Wrong about Amendola in replacing Welker.

I was also wrong about the Pats missing the playoffs. I honestly thought they wouldn't even win the division, when we actually made the AFC Championship! I love being wrong! :rocker:

Right:
Logan Ryan
Blount
Danny Woodhead should have been retained
Another playoff year

Wrong:
Adrian Wilson
Jamie Collins-didn't have much faith in him during the draft process
Edelman-very, very wrong about him. I expected about only 4 games from him.

Right;
This team would win 12-13 games this year.
Jamie Collins was a great pick
Dobson was a good pick
We need another tight end
Talib is the real deal...
BB is a really great coach.

Wrong;
We could rely on rookie wide receivers who were drafted to play a complimentary role to our TE's...
Woodhead moving on was not a huge deal..
Zoltan Mesko would be missed..

Other than that it was a good year...
