So Michael Sam Is Gay, Who Cares? Can He Rush The QB?

This is the typical "hate this sin but love the sinner" statement.

I don't claim to fully understand the statement - but I know those who speak it - and there are many - do so sincerely

However, some seem to believe this statement absolves them from the sin of making hateful comments - it doesn't

And some seem to believe it justifies their view of advocating for different rights for those with different sexual orientation - it doesn't

So while I fully tolerate your religious views and take exception with those who would muzzle you - I draw the line when such views are used to justify unequal treatment under law

We likely differ on issues, but thanks for indicating some sense of understanding of my belief.

I think you are confusing free speech with civil rights.

You cannot stop people from making racist or offensive comments.

They can get arrested for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, or inciting.

The KKK can organize as long as it doesn't engage in hate crime or disorderly conduct (presumably).

I don't have that choice. My children are what they are and I support them.

It's a hypothetical question.

Would you prefer your son gay or straight?

That's a meaningless question to ask of someone who just told you and others that he would love his children no matter what.

Why can't you and boogs understand what unconditional love is?

Perhaps because neither of you ever experienced it?

I know why this question is not going to be answered directly.

You are free to think and say what you want.

But you do not have the right to tell another person that who he or she is, or their way of life, is wrong.

That is not free speech.

That is suppression, the very thing that drove our forefathers out of England.

Actually it was religious suppression that drove them out.

It is exactly free speech. "Suppression" is a meaningless word legally. You don't have the right to be free of people telling you things you don't want to hear.

Did I say it was against the law? No.

You are free to say and think what you want, but to tell another person that their lifestyle is wrong, is inappropriate and is bigotry, no matter the circumstances.

I know why this question is not going to be answered directly.

That is the mark of a bigot who thinks the world must only exist in a certain way, therefore no other point of view is credible. Treating that question as being meaningless is as much of an answer as a this or that answer.

There are actually people who just do not care, and will actually love their children for who they are.

Why is this hard for you to imagine?

My son is not hypothetical. I accept my son for what he is, which includes his intelligence, sense of humor, physical traits, emotional sensibilities, strengths, weaknesses and sexual preference.

You said they didn't have the "right", which is a legal term. Suppose their lifestyle is shooting heroin or being a prostitute. I guess that's bigotry to tell them that's wrong. That's what you said. In fact that's why our founding fathers left england. So they could shoot heroin in peace.

Why is it had for you to comprehend that people can prefer to have their kids straight but will love them even if they are gay?

You should try to look at that from the perspective of your gay son, who will clearly see that as you loving him less.

Actually our founding fathers were not heroin addicts, but they left England because of religious tyranny.

I'm sure you'll love your son no matter what, but you're lying if you don't prefer your son to have offsprings of his own genes passed on from you. How's that gonna happen when his wife is Steven?

I prefer my son to be himself. I am not lying.
If he were gay, he and Steven could adopt.

Your genes will not continue to be passed to the next generation. That is not something you wish for?

Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that this love is not real?

What in the world are you talking about?
What does that have to do with anything in this discussion?

Not everybody wants to have kids Condon84. And people may have good reason not to. I've always wanted to have kids myself. And want to see my kids have their kids.
Watch a grandparent, there is a whole lot of joy seen in their eyes when they speak of grandkids. It's a natural thing.

Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that this love is not real?

That's an easy answer. He would be disgusted by a gay child so he cannot accept that this wouldn't be able to mean he loves it.
