Michael Lombardi coming to New England?

You know when Browns fans are celebrating a guy being dumped it's hard to get excited about him coming to your team...

I am neither here nor there RE Lombardi's credentials.

But he fleeced Indy on that Richardson trade. He also seemed to make some other pretty solid personnel decisions in his time there.

I guess we will see what happens. If anything pats will just get an insight into what another teams opinion of players is.

Yes, the first thing I wondered is whether or not we automatically lose our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round draft picks now seeing as how Lombardi finally secured the services of Ryan Mallett.

No I get it and maybe the guy, like Josh, was making moves that would eventually pay off but will be forever viewed negatively for drafting a specific QB.

Lombardi had direct experience working with BB and was able to offer an insider's perspective on what sets him and the Patriots apart. That's not "ballwashing," that simply is telling it like it is.

I'm sure some of them were celebrating when they fired Belichick too.

I don't know where anyone would get the idea the Cleveland Browns have some sort of experience with success. They don't. They don't know what it is and can only know what it looks like by watching other teams from other cities or reading about the old days.

The teams owners always knee jerk while shooting from the hip blindfolded, hoping to hit a bulls eye. Can't blame them too much. Extreme luck is the only way that city sees another trophy in any major sport.

I agree with this thought somewhat, but to be fair--they've also had some pretty extreme cases of bad luck just the same.

"The drive," and "The fumble," in back to back AFCCG losses in football... An extra inning game 7 World Series ice cream cone that goes off of the top of the glove of Omar Vizquel....A Blown 3-1 lead to the Yankees in the ALCS a handful of years ago on their way to another World Series...The fact that they were one of the NBA's most feared teams, and had made it to 2 or 3 Championship appearances until LeBron up and left his hometown fans high and dry.

I kind of feel bad for them, to be perfectly honest.

had to look it up Michael Lombardi was the browns GM from 1987 to 1996 so am guessing he hired BB. Mayock was a ST player for the Giants not really worked for him more of coached by him I guess him and BB are good friends but I still think he talks to much about the pats lol

According to a Cleveland radio station, former Browns general manager Michael Lombardi, who worked with Bill Belichick in Cleveland, is likely to be coming to New England to join the Patriots' front office.

Chris Fedor of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland tweeted that it was looking like Lombardi, fired in Clevelanld on Monday, would reunite with Belichick, who coached the Browns from 1991-95. It is uncertain what role Lombardi would play with the Pats.

Lombardi did a good job in Cleveland in a short amount of time.
He stockpiled 2014 draft picks and gathered over 46 million in cap space.

I am sure the Colts are regretting trading their 1st round pick to the Browns for Trent
Richardson..

I am glad he is joining the staff.

I think Lombardi will be a fine addition. He never really had a chance at the Factory of Sadness, but in a short amount of time, he helped turn around that situation quite a bit. Too bad the owner sucks. I wonder if he'll take on a similar role to Floyd Reese, who retired last year and I don't think was replaced.

I do still cringe thinking about Lombardi's article on the Seahawks needing to bench Wilson for Flynn. But hey, we've all missed the mark on a lot of things. Tom Brady was my fav college player, so I just wanted to watch him play maybe for a year or two before he became an insurance salesman... :bricks:

I am a fan of having another experienced set of eyes in the room that BB would listen to. If Lombardi can talk BB out of drafting the next Ras I Dowling then I am all for it.
