Re: It may not be as crazy as you think. Who you trade for the Browns first round pic
I doubt the #4 pick is even in play but I can tell you the Cameron idea is never going to happen, they would never trade for a QB and then take their second best weapon away.
Honestly even if the #4 pick was in play which as I said is 99% unlikely in my opinion if Clowney is off the board what would we even do with that pick, trade back?
There is Clowney, Watkins or trade down and many scenarios that are fun to consider. Just trying to stimulate the conversation. We have many Junior GMs on this Forum who can attest that they know the real value of Mallet and Ridley and everyone else is a poop head if they disagree? The key word is opinion and it is interesting to see how protective they are of their ideals and how other opinions happen to Rot.
The Browns need an RB. Do they go RB at the top of the second round? Wait? Or opt for a proven 1,000 yard rusher who is still young.
Is Mallet a worse QB option than Bortles, Bridgewater and Manzeil? How did anyone come up with that proven analysis?
They get both on the cheap this year. They can jettison if they do not work or have plenty of CAP to sign them. An envious position over most NFL Teams.
At the end of the day, the Browns get two potential starters that have NFL experience. Even Mallet has more than these other three, albeit not season play.
Would the Jets swap Geno Smith for Mallet even up? I say absolutely. Would the Bills swap for him even up for E.J. Manuel? Yep. So how does Bortles, Bridgewater and Manzeil become Andrew Luck type picks? The "definite" first rounder Geno Smith was pick #39 early in Round two. Is there a single Cousin on this Forum that would trade Geno Smith even up for Mallet?............. Didn't think so. So high second rounder for Mallet is not a crazy value.
Another good question. Would the Colts swap Richardson who they gave away pick #26, for Ridley? I say in an instant Cousins. So I have come to determine that perhaps Ridley is near that as value.
Cameron might be a little outrageous, and I will concede that knowing he broke out in 2013. But Mallet and Ridley plus our #1 is certainly not unreasonable for the #4 pick knowing the Browns needs and getting two young players who might be stars for moving down in a Round. One pick for three.
Remember we lose them in 2015 if not resigned.
I have come up with worse scenarios than that on this Forum. Ah..... but I have also picked some correctly when scoffed and persecuted. Ha...So There!
This is for fun ladies and gentlemen. I think I have backed my theories with some reason.
And as one astute Poster mentioned, The Draft Value is a thing of the past with the new CBA. Yes...exactly. This is why this might not be as crazy for the Pats side of things either.
