In the interview, Gonzalez also says that he’d be open to a possible return next season for the stretch run with a team that’s established itself as a championship contender.

It just went from 6 to midnight at supafly's house.

just wondering did you read it?

This was his quote

"gonzalez also says that he’d be open to a possible return next season for the stretch run with a team that’s established itself as a championship contender."

so he wants to come back in december basically. Wants to skip the important parts.

Dont even care how he defines "for the stretch run"... nowwwww!!!

Tony can skip all the training camp he wants. PLEASE COME.

I think he basically means TC, more or less. A guy in the league that long can skip TC if he wants to. It just means his body won't break down as quickly at the end of the season. Gronk and Gonzalez would be a sight to see.

Would his head and heart be in it? He's pulled this retirement thing twice now and will be 38 going into the season, he's bound to start slowing down soon or later. His touchdowns have stayed similar but his receiving yards for the most part have gotten progressively worse.

I'm personally not a fan of these guys that don't want to take part in training camp and go through the grind with their teammates. It's selfish to me. If Brady can go through training camp, Tony Gonzalez sure as hell should be going through it to build chemistry and bond with his teammates.

This.

If Gonzalez is willing to play from opening day he's a Patriot in 2014.

Two FYIs - December is after the trading deadline. The Falcons owns the rights to Gonzalez.

Yes Yes ! Please Please !

Belichick has quite a history of letting veterans basically flake on TC if that's what it takes to bring them back. It all depends on how much trust you have in them to stay in game shape, and nobody does that better than Gonzalez.

I'm all for bringing him to New England. You'd think he would need a TC here just to adapt to a new team and new offense, but if the only way to get him here is to let him play his way onto the field over the course of the season, then I'll take it.

If Tony Gonzalez wants to join the Patriots from, say, November through the playoffs, and the Falcons are willing to accomodate that for a relative pittance (6th or 7th round pick), I expect BB will give that some very serious consideration, assuming the cap space is available.

Should've done this long ago but better late than never, BB!

Unlike Gronk, he's actually durable. I'm all in!

Was - as in past tense. The hacks at PFT hacked that part when they were hacking someone else's story. Plus he'll be 38 later this month.

Tony Gonzalez: Falcons QB Matt Ryan not elite; I was open to trade - CBSSports.com

Besides talking about Ryan, Gonzalez also touched on a few other topics during his interview. For instance, he was open to being traded before the Oct. 29 deadline after the Falcons fell apart in 2013. Atlanta was 2-5 at the point.

"You trade me to a team that needs me, that wants to make a serious run in the playoffs and the Super Bowl," Gonzalez said. "You get something in return for a guy who you know won't be here next year. And the season isn't going anywhere anyway. That's rational."

According to the ESPN story, Gonzalez was at a restaurant with his wife expecting to be traded and the two were waiting for a call from the Falcons. Gonzalez's phone never rang and he wasn't happy about not being traded.

Back in October, Gonzalez had said he'd 'listen' if Atlanta was interested in trading him.

It really made no sense for the Falcons to keep Gonzalez. Getting any draft pick for a guy who currently has no plans of playing in 2014 would have been a steal for a team that has a few holes to fill.

Give the Falcons something crap and then PUP him..... then draft Amaro/ASJ/someone.

Amaro-Gronk-Gonzalez

Gonzalez is starting to remind me a little of Brett Favre.

not getting my hopes up like most here....would be cool though to see it happen
