Broncos sign Marquice Cole

Folks! Stop thinking this guy will see the field as a CB!

Even more importantly than knowing Amendola/Edelman/Collie/Dobson et al, he knows inside the Patriots #1 or #2 STRENGTH.

Our secondary. He's there for intel.

****Here's what BB says about that kind of knowledge this morning in an unrelated Curran piece about Talib recommending Blount to the Pats:

"“When you have a guy who is with another player day after day, year after year, competing against him on the field and he gives you an honest evaluation and you trust that player and his evaluation, who knows better than him?” asked Belichick.

“Even what you see on film it’s nice and it’s what you have to work with and it’s valuable but it’s not nearly as valuable as somebody who is in the day to day competitive situation with another person,” Belichick added. “I think that was something that I didn’t really have a lot of, didn’t really have a good way to measure or find out but Aqib cleared that up for me in a very positive way.”

- - OK, folks. Does everybody NOW understand? (Or are so many of you going to continue to play Homer Simpson on this and daydream about this guy playing cornerback this Sunday?)
I took that as BB used Talib to understand who Blount is. He saw plenty on tape but wasn't on the field or in the locker room with him. Is Cole going to let the Broncos know the personalities of Talib, Dennard, McCourty and Gregory? They already know their tendencies and did in November and will next year.

At this point why don't they just sign any past player, coach, owner, concession stand worker from the patriots.

BB doesn't bring in guys because of their personalities.

The intel he valued was about the player's capabilities.

That's what the Colts did.

This signing was different.

I made that patently clear in post #58. If some people still cannot understand the fundamental difference, then keep whistling past the graveyard.

Will it materially help the Broncos? Who knows. But it certainly isn't the ridiculous and irrelevant Colts Branch signing.

There going to get nothing out of then. It didn't work for the colts did it.

It's been clearly pointed out to you TWICE in plain English how this is NOTHING LIKE the Branch signing.

Are you doing a put-on? Anchorman 2 isn't funny.

Obviously he doesn't bring them in for their personalities alone. But having a solid locker room, in my opinion, is important to a team winning. Nothing wrong with checking in with a guy who played with Blount for a few years to get a gauge on him.

What capabilities? What information did Talib give BB about Blount's capabilities that he didn't already know?

How hard he works? What a DB thinks about when he has to tackle the guy?

Did you READ BB's quote? Your answer is right there in black and white.

Exactly. BB can't know how hard Blount is working by looking at tape. But you can figure out how to tackle him by looking at it. And I read that story yesterday. As I said, my interpretation of it is a lot different than yours.

HOW can you "interpret" THIS any differently (unless you think BB is just bs'ing):

"“Even what you see on film it’s nice and it’s what you have to work with and it’s valuable but it’s not nearly as valuable as somebody who is in the day to day competitive situation with another person,” Belichick added. “I think that was something that I didn’t really have a lot of, didn’t really have a good way to measure or find out but Aqib cleared that up for me in a very positive way.”

BB evidently disagrees with your statement "But you can figure out how to tackle him by looking at it." BB is not speaking Swahili there.

THAT is what Marquice Cole brings to the Broncos this week, even if he does not dress.

I hope Cole took good notes on how to tackle anyone on the Pats who might carry the ball then.

Again, and I'm done posting on this, I think BB knows enough about a player's talents and abilities by evaluating film. I don't think he needed Talib for that. That's my "interpretation."

Quotes from Talib on Cole

"Good luck, Quice. Cash that check, baby!"

"That's my dog."

"He's not going to tell Peyton Mannjng anything that Peyton doesn't already know about us."

It doesn't bother me one bit. The Donkeys will use him up and spit him out. And I dont think their are too many teams knocking themselves out to get him down the road. And he most certainly slammed the door on the Pats. His locker was still intact! Dummy, once a Jet, always a Jet.

I think it is like the Branch signing. The Broncos have very little use for Cole lets just say he played for the Panthers instead of the pats, Denver would have not signed him of course he is there for intel. Denver is trying to find an edge on the Patriots.

The intel Branch could give the Colts was NOWHERE NEAR as valuable as the intel Cole can give the Broncos.

Look at the roster. Branch never played with the majority of the Pats WRs. Plus he played in a FAR different offense than the Patriots are running now. Cole played with all of the current Pats secondary. You're just trolling this thread if you still cannot understand that.

I don't mean to be trolling this thread,I think he has intel for Denver that's my opinion and I'm sticking with it. I understand you don't agree and I'm ok with that. I'm not trolling the thread I can put my opinion out there and if you want to debate it ok, don't be saying I'm trolling the thread because I'm supporting my opinion that you don't agree with.

Yeah also one would assume anything Branch had access to provide the Colts Welker would have already been able to provide them.

I don’t think there is anything that Branch, Cole or Welker could tell the Broncos that is going to determine the outcome of the game. I was annoyed by what Branch did more because I don’t like the idea of a player doing nothing for almost a full calendar year and then latching on in the 23rd hour to try and add a ring and on top of that doing so on the week that the team he joined is going to facing an organization that drafted him and was very good to him over the past decade.

I have to agree this Sunday will be the 20th game that Peyton has played against the Patriots in his career which will be tie the Texans for the most against any team.

If the Patriots were putting information into the hands of players that could cost victories I do not think they would release them as often as they do. My issue with Branch was what he did not the issue over information being shared, Cole followed instruction and considering he was cut he likely didn’t do that so well so I doubt that he can teach Peyton Manning anything.

Side note – I love Talib’s attitude about stuff he is such a goof, I really hope they retain him I really think he is great for the locker room and the younger CBs; ever since he has arrived the dwelling in mistakes that our DBs did in prior years has gone away.
