2 shots to trade Mallett – O’Brien and McDaniels

2 shots to trade Mallett – O’Brien and McDaniels

Gotta think McDaniels will stick with Hoyer. Can't see anyone giving up much for Mallett.

:hijacked:
Let's get back on track peeps, the fact is McDaniels is not going to coach in Denver again and Tebow is not going to be starting in Cleveland next year so Denver and Tebow don’t matter to this thread. :focus:

why are we talking about religion right now?

Tebow is not in the league right now for 2 reasons.

1.) hes a 40% passer

2.) he wont play anything but QB

If tebow put in the work and switched to tight end a team would sign him tomorrow.

I have not paid close attention to Cleveland this season (for example, I was surprised to see they just lost their 7th game in a row), but I'm a little surprised Chudzinski only got one season.

I don't think he was a holdover from the previous GM. Maybe there was behind-the-scenes stuff, but it seemed like they had some good pieces on offense and defense and the Richardson trade set them up to improve for next season. Plus, how much success can a team have when they have to use 3 QBs in a season and those QBs are Hoyer, Weeden, and Campbell?

Unless there is more going on, I would have given Chudzinski another season. Then again, I'm not qualified to run an NFL team.

Not to be flippant, but how bad would losing McDaniels be. Most posters complain about his play calling incessantly.

I actually think he is the weakest out of Weiss and O'Brien. He is a good coordinator but surely replaceable.

we complain about his playcalling because we are spoiled brats

If McDaniels is given another opportunity to be a Head Coach, in no way, shape or form does this bother me (unless it's performed during the Playoffs).

And the main thing is you could trust him. He's a real stand up guy.

Touché. I chuckled. Yes, he is a horse's behind. But I stand by my belief that he knows football. He just didn't know people. I suspect BB wasn't the fun-loving incarnation we see now when he was in Cleveland.

Pats fans have been the recipient of tremendous success over the last 13 years.

Still I think McD is overrated. He is a good coordinator but he has not done anything special this time around.

From the first year I started posting on message boards, the only two years I have ever seen where people didn't hate the OC and constantly complain about the play calling was 2004 and 2007. Charlie Weis got killed in 2000-2003. McDaniels and O'Brien both got killed too. And the revloving door or OCs under Pete Carroll all got trashed.

It isn't McDaniels, it is position. Everyone hates the OC and every fan of every team thinks that their OC is the worst in the league and their play calling is the worst in the league.

I don't hate McDaniels, in fact, I think he's a hell of an OC. For me it's more I'm comfortable with whoever is there calling plays (outside of them being mentally impaired) for Brady to use.

I remember reading the board in the earlier 2000's and that is a true statement.

I guess what I mean is McD is more a product of Brady than having any special ability.

Amen to that my friend. Even saints fans complain Payton's playcalling is awful when they lose.

2008 never happened?

I wanted Cassel badly when he went to Denver so my hope/wish is he has the same attachment to Mallett. As far as Hoyer goes McDaniels has never coached Hoyer so I am not sure how highly he thinks of him.

Can someone explain why us hiring Belichick cost us a 1st round pick but other teams can consistently hire away our DCs and OCs without any compensation? Im guessing that with Bill it was because he was the HC and not a Coordinator?

Its an interesting idea that there is an unheralded disadvantage of a consistently successful team in that they are always losing their Coordinators as other teams try to steal a piece of their success.. losing continuity in these positions could actually have tangible disadvantages.

Maybe the same kind of overlooked handicap to a team as them drafting in the bottom third of every draft 13 years in a row.

Either way! I think a team that loses a Coordinator under contract deserves some kind of compensation! ... and yes, yes I'm including Penn State and Notre Dame in that statement.. though the latter might not be so inclined to pay anything..

2008 did happen. An almost perfect team regressed but was saved by BB's best year (until now). McD is good. I like him as the OC.

I am just saying losing him is not that big of a deal. I just hope the pats resign Edelman.

McD or not. The Brady and BB show will roll on.

I think BB would hire someone he didn't like or had a feud with if he was a good coach, but I hope he's smart enough not to hire a backstabber. If he is, he deserves what he gets, a guy that uses him and steals secrets and players on his way out.
