Next week versus Buffalo is a must-win

We really need that 1st round bye to heal up and prepare with an injured squad. The Bills game is a must win. I kind of hope EJ Manuel plays because he's brutal.

re: Next week versus Buffalo is a must-win

Actually from here on EVERY WEEK IS A MUST WIN :rocker:

We can be as high as the #1 seed or as low as the #4 seed.

#1 seed
Patriots win + Broncos loss

#2 seed
Patriots win
or
Patriots loss + Bengals loss + Colts loss

#3 seed
Patriots loss + Bengals loss
or
Patriots loss + Colts loss

#4 Seed
Patriots loss + Bengals win + Colts win

---------------------------------------------------
Bills @ Patriots
Broncos @ Raiders
Ravens @ Bengals
Jaguars @ Colts

==================================
#6 seed scenarios

Here is how each of the 4 current wild-card teams would make the playoffs

Dolphins win +
Chargers win

Ravens win +
Dolphins win + Chargers loss

Chargers win +
Dolphins loss + Ravens loss

Steelers win +
-Dolphins loss + Ravens loss + Chargers loss

If all 4 teams lose, the Ravens are the #6 seed.

Ravens @ Bengals
Jets @ Dolphins
Browns @ Steelers
Chiefs @ Chargers

Re: Patriots Week 17 playoff Scenarios

Week 17 is a must-win if we want to make the SB. We need the extra week off and a home game.

Yup. Need the bye and i think tye get it

Pumped to be going to the game next week!

Re: Patriots Week 17 Playoff Scenarios

I really hope Cincy falls to the #4 seed vs Balt.

I want NE to get the #2 seed. Then I want Cincy to lose (that way they'd be taking on Denver in the divisional game; assuming they win the Wild Card).

This, in a nutshell, is what week #17 is all about for the Patriots and for Pat fans.

Can Baltimore win and still not make the playoffs? If so, that would be cool too--despite their vulnerabilities today.

If Baltimore, Miami and SD all win then Miami gets in.

Strangely enough if Baltimore and Miami win but SD loses then Baltimore gets in.

Re: Patriots Week 17 Playoff Scenarios

4 home wins please.

Re: Patriots Week 17 Playoff Scenarios

I really want the Chargers to make the playoffs, they've already proven they have the best shot to knock out Denver in the divisional round.

So as long as the Chargers win, the Ravens cannot get in?

Steelers need a miracle it looks like.

And we cannot afford to blow next week's game.

re: Next week versus Buffalo is a must-win

one would say the next 4 or 5 games is a must win

First scenario Miami in thru Conf records 8-4 to 7-5 and 6-6

2nd Baltimore beat Miami h2h

This is how Steelers get in

2013 NFL Playoffs: AFC clinching scenarios and wild card - Cincy Jungle

The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a shot if the San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins all lose. It would create a four-way tie and the tiebreaker per the ESPN playoff machine: Wins tie break over NY Jets and San Diego based on best win percentage in conference games. Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Miami (NY Jets wins tie break over Miami based on best win percentage in division games). Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Baltimore (Pittsburgh wins tie break over Baltimore based on best win percentage in division games).

AFC playoff picture??

Does anyone have the playoff picture?

Seems confusing

Playoff outlook after Game 15

AFC playoff outlook:
  • The four division winners are all locked in.
  • Denver is a game ahead of the Pats, but the Pats have the tiebreak.
  • The Pats are a game ahead of the Colts and Bengals, but each of those teams has the tiebreak vs. the Pats.
  • The Chiefs are locked in as the first wildcard team.
  • Baltimore and Miami are tied for the second wildcard slot. Baltimore has the tiebreak, but also is likely to be an underdog for Game 16. Edit: There's an error here; it's actually a 3-way with San Diego.

Re: Playoff outlook after Game 15

I bet Denver was all set to go on cruise control and rest their starters next week but now after the pesky Patriots beat the Ravens they have to play them to keep the #1.

Re: Patriots Week 17 Playoff Scenarios

Should we even bother checking on the Raiders/Bronco game Sunday? Wouldn't surprise me if the Raiders tease us by hanging around a little bit before being completely blown out in the 4th quarter.
