Browns Defense and Joe Haden

I think the Browns game is a great test for our WRs. The Panthers secondary is their weak point, Broncos defense is not good, Texans secondary has been awful this year and you can pass on the Saints. This is the first game where our WRs face a 'shutdown' type cornerback. I for one want to see how we play against them.

The Browns defense is good, but with the way the Patriots offense has been playing as of late, I doubt they stand much of chance in slowing down a machine that's becoming well oiled, if not already.

Have to disagree with you here. I tend to watch the Browns because of a Cleveland fan at work (told him: at the Bruins Stanley Cup post game press conference they said "Cleveland this is for you"). Anyway, that defense can play tough. The type of defense that frustrates the Patriots offense.

Yeah, although the Pats only scored 20 points against Carolina, it was due more to the Pats shooting themselves in the foots than Carolina stopping the offense.

"Foots" made me chuckle.

That would be great if we could tell Ray Horton that Haden should cover Dobson

No kidding! I didn't know we're in a position to choose coverages for opponents' defenses....

Wait! We can! We're cheaters!

So suddenly a Browns defense that couldn't even stop Chad Henne and the Jaguars at home is going to be able to "frustrate" the Patriots.

You do realize that the Patriots as of late have been having their way with better defenses than the Browns' right? Let's not go over board here. Cleveland's defense might be good, the Patriots offense is just better.

QB controversy already ... whose starting Kosar or Testaverde???

As I stated, the Browns defense is the type that will give the Patriots problems. Do not care how many points they put on Carolina, Denver, or Houston.

I'm glad the Pats aren't looking past Cleveland. I remember a lousy Browns team taking this team to the wood shed 2 or 3 seasons ago. It was one of the games as a fan that made you check your television set to see if the score was correct. Reality is they should win.

Will, huh?

You're confusing the word "will" with "can," or "might." A lot of teams could potentially give the Patriots offense problems, that doesn't mean they actually do. The Panthers were supposed to give them problems too, but other than self-inflicted errors, they could hardly contain the Patriots. Carolina's defense is better than the Browns and is huge part of why they've won 8 straight games.

The Browns defense, as of late hasn't been playing particularly good football, getting beat by bad teams with bad QB. Whilst the Patriots offense has been playing otherworldly as of late, especially Brady.

As stated above just because you can potentially do something doesn't mean that you will.

The last team to beat the Patriots by double-digit was the 5-11 Browns in 2010, one of our two losses in a 14-2 season. So I'm not going to take this team lightly.

That game was on the road and we're at home, but considering we were down double-digits to the 2-10 Texans, we shouldn't be looking past ANYONE.

The offence is ROLLING right now.

Does anyone have toms numbers since the Steelers game

I'm not taking anyone lightly either but the only thing that this Browns team has related to that Browns team is the name. Totally different teams. Colt McCoy was the QB, Peyton Hillis was the RB. And they knew us VERY well with Mangini as HC, Rob Ryan as DC and Brian Daboll as OC.

Again, no game should be taken lightly but I think Alex Mack, TJ Ward and Haden are the only starters guys left from that team.

Once again, WE can take any team lightly, overlook them, laugh at them, guarantee victory, etc, etc and it means nothing.
I am confident that Bill Belichick has the concept of his team not overlooking an opponent down pretty damn pat, so I wonder why these comments are so prevalent every time we face a bad team.

115/163
70.5%
1443 Yards
10 TD
1 INT
114.9 QB Rating.

The team has averaged 35.7 ppg

And yes I purposely left out that INT against the panthers for obvious reasons.

Will, huh?

Dude, seriously? The definition of "will" can be used in a number of situations. For example: accidents will happen, doesn't mean the accident is automatic. You must be searching for your "gotcha moment". I hope for a Patriots victory against the Browns. Have watched the Browns a lot this year and my assumption is there defense "presents" problems, even for great offenses (I ate a Snickers bar).

Cleveland's defense is good. Really do not care what team put numbers up against them. Hopefully, the Patriots can put together a couple of drives in the second half.

They played tough today, for sure.

The Patriots were costing themselves more with poor execution than anything the Browns were doing. When the game was on the line, and their team needed a stand to seal the win, the Browns D choked and came up small when it really mattered most.

You can't play 2-3 good quarters of football and think that's all you need to win in the NFL. They've choked at the end of games a lot this season. I'm not surprised they did it again here.

Great defenses don't blow leads like Cleveland's has all season. Sorry.

When I post a bogus message, I admit my mistake. But, that's just me. I don't think too many people here will agree with you that Cleveland's defense is not tough and gave the Patriots problems. The Patriots needed a successful onside kick for an epic finish.
The End.

You came into this thread before the game was over basically gloating about how great their defense is and how you don't care what other teams have done against them, as if that didn't matter. You were clearly wrong about that because as I stated many times, as of late they weren't playing really good defense. 7 losses in their last 8 games while allowing almost 24.9 ppg is AMAZING defense.

And if you're attempting to say me saying that the Patriots can have their way with the Browns defense based on recent history is bogus, then you're even more confused than I thought. That didn't happen obviously, but unlike you I stated my opinion (not that the Patriots "will" have their way with them - see the difference) while you made a proclamation as if you can see the future.
But, that's just me. I don't think too many people here will agree with you that Cleveland's defense is not tough and gave the Patriots problems.
Where is if anywhere did I say they did not play tough defense? I like how you're trying to put words into my mouth.

The Patriots needed a successful onside kick for an epic
That's how you win in the NFL. Play 60 minutes of football, that's something that "vaunted" Browns defense did not do. If they did, like great defenses do, they would've won the game. Don't try to shift the blame on the Patriots. The Pats made the plays they needed to win the game, Cleveland didn't, and that's why they lost.
You're right, it's the end of you trying to argue pointlessly for a team that has lost 7 out of their last 8 games.
