New England Patriots release WR LaQuan Williams - espnBoston

The New England Patriots announced the release of wide receiver LaQuan Williams, the former Baltimore Raven who had been signed on Nov. 5 and was expected to provide help on special teams.

Williams didn't play in a game for the team, and it was reported after he signed, by the Baltimore Sun, that he is being sued after an alleged incident outside of a Washington, D.C., strip club.

With an open roster spot, it could pave the way for the Patriots to activate running back Shane Vereen off the injured reserve/designated to return list. Vereen, who starred in a season-opening win over the Bills, broke his wrist in that game and has been sidelined since. He's practiced in each of the past three weeks and this week marks the first time he's eligible to be activated.

Alas, LaQuan ... we hardly knew ye. You moronic strip-club rumbler.

out of curiosity, how much does he get paid for not even being active for a single game.

First Welker, now this!

I think he gets 3 weeks of game checks so roughly $70,000.

Huh? wasn't he signed on 11/5, last Tuesday. We haven't even played a game since then, how is he getting 3 weeks of game checks? Anyway, that looks to be a little short of his pending lawsuit liability....

That's more than I have in the bank. That pisses me off.

This was a solid decision by Belichick getting him out of town before the weekend crowd at the local strip clubs.

@ochocinco any advice on where to watch the game this Sunday?:bricks:

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Only a matter of time before he would've shown up in the paper and not on the sports page.

I really hope this move is indeed Vereen's activation because he would make Brady and our young WR's life so much easier. Vereen is dynamic is the passing game would really make me forget about Woodhead.

I thought you might have been right about the Vereen connection till I saw this article. Now it is clear that Belichick woke up on Friday went to his favorites on Google to his favorite writer Hayden Bird and saw this noble prize winning article and called and cut Williams immediately.

Larry move over Hayden is the new Bird in town :bricks:

Clearly of French descent.

Here's an interesting football trivia tidbit - in french, LaQuan's name means "The Quan"

As much as I too would like to hope this was Vereen related, my guess is they just want to dump Williams ASAP - especially before the MNF broadcast should anyone realize they didn't do their homework on him.

And if they assert they did do their homework, that's even worse.
