ESPNEWS: Randy Moss possibly to the Patriots???

Dolphins don't really have a good enough quarterback to merit acquiring a receiver like Moss.

Take this for what it is worth, but this was in an article by Len Pasquarelli at espn.com:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2788847

On another front, a source close to Bill Belichick reacted with skepticism Monday to reports that the New England coach is "enamored of" Randy Moss and might consider acquiring the Oakland Raiders wide receiver in a trade.

Said the source: "I'd be very cautious about how I treat second- or third-hand information about what's going on in the mind of Belichick when it comes to this stuff. Unless you're hearing it directly [from Belichick], you're taking a big leap. It happens every year with the Patriots, about free agency and draft plans, a lot of agendas and speculation that rarely end up happening."

Never Mind. ESPN was just parrotting what the Herald was reporting. Nothing big.

I agree - seems to me Stallworth had a meeting and an offer - is sitting in his hotel room tonight, mulling the offer and about to fly off to another team.

Seeing a rumor on ESPN that the Patriots have a ready plan B if Stallworth doesn't sign is a strategic move by whoever might have leaked this.

Stallworth loses a bit of bargaining power with the next team if the Patriots move on to someone else so quickly after meeting with him, especially on the heels of the substance abuse stories.

The Pats likely made a very fair offer - will the offer be gone after tomorrow? Will other teams go higher?

Deal or No Deal Dante. I say do the smart thing and take the good chunk of money that was offered.

Interesting Rumor which brings up the question? Who is plan B? I really don't think it is Moss.

If we could've gotten Moss for a 2nd rounder, it was pretty stupid to trade it for Wes Welker, no matter the difference in price and attitude.

Kelly Washington

Eric Moulds

and a draft pick

I like Washington alot and I do think he will suprise.

Moulds? I keep wondering if he just got stuck in WR Hell or maybe he does have one more year of #1 potential in him?

Those would be my three options if Stallworth and the Moss thing are dead, but Im getting just a tad bit excited that Stallworth is in town..

Frankly from a strategy point of view, if you knew that Stallworth was really interested in the Pats, the best thing you could do to get him to sign with you is start rumors that you'd like to trade for another WR.

I'd prefer Moss over Stallworth. The guy's a freak and Stallworth isn't exactly Captain America either, so it's not like you're comparing a character guy to a non-character guy. If Moss came to Beantown, I'd have my jersey preordered in the Proshop.

Ummmmm, please lemme know the last time Moss was considered a freak? Talent wise please, and statistically wise please.

Maybe it was that catch opening day against the Patriots in 2005. Maybe it was 1000 yards, 8 TDs on one of the worst teams in the league two years ago. Maybe it was good statistics this year, despite the career lows, playing on unequivocally the worst team in the league.

I dont know where anyone is getting anything about Moss going to the Pats. I saw a 15 minute segment last night about Moss, and the Pats werent mentioned at ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
