Unreasonable Expectations Regarding Injuries

they are going to need Kelly and Talib back at 100 for the playoffs and the defense is going to have to play lights out for them to make a playoff run cause this offense is going to have a really hard time putting 20 on some of the really good defenses in the AFC.

right now other then Brady's hand and now Vollmer this offense has all its toys and its still not doing much yes they are missing Vereen but lets face it he's not Marshall Faulk, so yes it is unreasonable to expect the offense to get worlds better then it is now but this is a 6-2 team and anyone in the AFC that sleeps on them come playoff time is going to get hit in the mouth

But this is the first time we have had almost all the toys together. They still have to gel. That's been the issue, they haven't gelled yet. Now that they can, look for them to be considerably better coming out of the bye and down the stretch.

DI,

6-2 ! 6-2!! 6-2!!! That is a projected 12-4 record. Yes it is a Playoff Quality team.

I suggest you stop sucking lemons...

What the hell are you talking about? I didn't say that they aren't a playoff quality team. I've been picking them to win the division from the beginning.

27 points isn't a terrible offensive performance anyway.

Feel bad for Vollmer (is he prone to getting broken legs?). Nevertheless, Cannon is a capable backup who would start on many teams, I believe.

It's not bad, especially since it was all 2nd half pretty much. Get 3 quarters or 4 like what we saw today and it will be going pretty nice.

I see no reason to bring Talib back for next week's game. He's obviously going to miss tomorrow, so why not give him the full benefit of 5 weeks rest, instead of bringing him back too early for one game?

We saw the mistake of doing this last season, when they continued to try and play him for a couple of quarters, a game here and there, etc. Then it bit us in the ass vs BAL in the most important game of the year.

I would hope that they handle the situation a bit differently this time.

Do the Pats force Talib to undergo surgery if he is retained? And does this become a problem during negotiations? It's been FOUR seasons in a row now. I don't see any reason why things are suddenly going to change regarding his hip issues.
Although the rest would be nice, we need all hands on deck. Barely been winning games. Can't lose a game because we let a guy rest when he didn't need it. If he needs the rest then by all means. But, he'd be a very nice boost and steelers have some good wide outs.

Belichick didn't play Talib against Miami. This was a much more important game than the game against PITT, especially now that we have won it. 6-3 wouldn't be a disaster; losing Talib would be a disaster.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Talib is 100% and does in fact play. I just think it more likely that he will not.

I hear what you're saying, and I don't think that there is any right or wrong opinion on that topic. Basically it is the difference between 5 weeks of full rest, and 3 weeks of rest.

We saw that last year's management did not go too well, so the thinking would be that we may as well get him the extra 2 weeks. However, I am not taking the Steelers lightly either. They can certainly win--just not on a consistent basis this season. If Belichick feels that he should play, that's obviously his decision and we all will understand. The hope of course is that Talib's injury doesn't pop up again this year, so there is a question of being patient vs the instant gratification of seeing him vs PIT.

This pretty much sums it up. They have a much better read on the situation, but the concern is that we did not have the benefit of the bye week that we now have this year, and last year was not enough rest/time off. The question may be whether or not there is actually any way to prevent a re-occurrence. Belichick may think that the answer is "no," and very well may play Talib. We will see.
