Jets alerted Refs to look for Illegal FG Push

I am being real and this story has already been verified. The Jets cried to the Refs to call a Penalty on the very thing that they themselves were doing while Gostkowski was kicking. Just go look at the tape.

Looking at their cry baby snitch like history, I can't fathom how this doesn't enrage you or any other Pats fan.

It doesn't enrage me because I think that any coach who DIDN'T do that is hopelessly incompetent. Do you really think Belichick doesn't/wouldn't do the exact same thing if the situation came up? Please!

...carbon copy. My post is more about correctly enforcing the rules, not that what we did was ok, but we very well should have had an opportunity for the drive to continue....

pretty sad...

exactly my point. TY for the informative GIF

From bruschi's chat

Tedy,The last 2 minutes of close or OT NFL games. I believe the refs need to let the players decide the outcome of the games on the field and keep the yellow flag in their pocket( unless there's an egregious personal foul committed ) Your thoughts?
Tedy (2:06 PM)

Chris, usually if officials want to make a point regarding a call, or send a message throughout the league, they'll make these calls in preseason or even early parts of the regular season. It was surprising to see a flag, on a penalty that has never been called before, on a play to decide the game.

One thing about this report: Wonder if anyone alerted Rex? he genuinely didn't seem to know what was going on, even after the game.

Pushgate. We'll never hear the end of it. :bricks:

Read elsewhere that his brother Rob tipped him off with film

It's depressing to now know that not only were we out played Sunday, we were out coached as well.

So the jets alerted the refs before the game to look for it, yet the jets did it (remember Boger said "any push") and for some reason the flagged stayed in the pocket.

I am quite sure he would, but not if he was doing the SAME THING..additionally, as the call was made at that crucial time where it decides a game versus them calling it previously...they knew it was going to decide the game and that is why it was called then, and not on previous attempts. Totally different.

Clearly we played like crap, but getting the ball back on the 46 Yard line with TB12 at the helm gives me pretty good confidence that we could have gotten enough yardage to get in FG range to win teh game...I stand by what I said...

It was a bush league call and anyone who disagrees is dead wrong. Thus the reason its never been called before. I am entitled to my opinion "BRO"

Couldda woulda shoulda..... we committed a penalty, and paid for it. Whether you like the penalty and the flag, is a moot point. The Jets did nothing illegal, and they didn't steal any 'W's.

The only thing that enrages me is the level we played at.

Get over it. We deserved to lose.

Lets be honest it shouldn't have come to that if we had taken care of business. We won the coin toss and had the Ball First in the OT.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Mucho gracias!

That doesn't make it any easier...to lose a game because the refs took it away is BS. That pushing crao was going on in every game across teh league, including ours, and was also done by the Jets(as already evidenced in this very thread). How can you not be enraged by the fact that they chose to call it then? Its bush league period. I don't care about a loss to a crap team we should have beat anyway, its the principal of how it all went down that bothers me. I am 90% positive that if the call was not made, Brady would have gotten a first down and we would have kicked the game winning FG...no matter how terribly we played in the second half, we didn't deserve that BS.

It is what it is.

That's part of the game. Sometimes stuff happens.

This won't be good enough. We didn't make enough plays.

We all just have to do a better job.

Now we're focused on the Dolphins . . .

Do we know it was before the game or was it before the attempt? I know I would have kept that in my back pocket until before the attempt.

What I don't understand is if the Jets informed the officials, why didn't the officials come over and warn the Pats to keep it clean? Essentially they only wanted to "catch" the Patriots. Wouldn't the better action have been for the officials to go to Belichick and explain that they have been alerted to illegal procedures on the kicks and that they would be looking for it? It makes no sense to me that play this Gotcha game and at that point in the game it makes it even worse.

It is very simple, The Jets were desperate for a win and did what they had to do to get one. It is what desperate teams do. They knew they couldn't stop the Pats from winning, so they resorted to plan B. The funny thing isthe push had no bearing on the play at all...

Honestly, what's the point in even TRYING to do something a little extra (like that push) to potentially gain an advantage? The field goal was from 56 YARDS! Folk has never made one from that far and the odds of him making this were very small. Whereas if it were a 40 yard FG or so, I could understand an attempt at trying to gain an advantage by doing that illegal push. Otherwise..NO!

Anyways, the call STILL shouldn't have been made and this is evident by the fact the NFL went and adjusted the rule AFTER the game. How pathetic that the league can't admit to the blown call.

Also, I feel like the ref called this penalty for HIMSELF. He wanted to show, "Oh hey, I think I know this one rule and it was just broken. I'm going to call a penalty on it to show how much of a good ref I am and how I know the rules so well!"

their coaches out-coached ours if they actually alerted the refs.

could be worse, could have happened in the playoffs

I don't blame the Jets for doing it. We probably would have done the same.

What I don't understand is the actions of the officials. Part of their mandate should be to explain to coaches what they are and are not looking for. They do this on occasion, particularly when players seem to be getting chippy, but I can't why they wouldn't do so in this case.
