Re: Re: Thru week 6 Amendola has only proven his critics correct…
Brady6-
No personal attacks here, but no real federal officer publicly offers a home address along with position (that would be agency policy). As I work with actual federal marshals every day, the ones in the air are called, and call themselves, air marshals, not flight marshals. The badge reads "air marshal." That story sounds like pure BS, and not well researched BS. If you claim to work there, and are in the air for the extended periods of time required by the job and posting here, what type of security would the agency see you as providing? Straight up - you would be terminated with one look at your activity here. It is stuff like this that make you sound like a writer of fiction, looking for attention.
I am not an Air Marshall and I do not work for the Federal Government, what I am is a pilot for Delta who took part in a 2 week Federal training in Arizona and upon completion I was given a badge which permits me to carry a handgun in flight, it is a volunteer position which is different than the trained agents who make the Air Marshalls, the official title I am given is Federal Flight Deck Officer however my company labels us as In Flight Marshalls and I used the slang Flight Marshall. If you would like to see my badge you can PM me to discuss it further.
As far as being terminated, I don’t actually get paid so I doubt that would actually happen, and my behavior here is very consistent with just about anyone in law enforcement, I discouraged against a threat of violence.
As stated repeatedly in this thread, by myself and others, nobody would reasonably disagree with your OP, to the extent it states Amendola has not proven his contract worth in 6 weeks. He has been injured during most of that time, and flashed potential in 1 of 6 games. It is the bulk of your other assertions that invoke most of the negative response, because you tend to avoid providing facts and instead tend to fall back to this original, simplistic and non-objectionable proposition when confronted with every other unfounded opinion you have offered. If you really want a discussion, I would recommend you stop falling back to the OP when confronted because you have spawned numerous other opinions that have little to do with that. Do not try to claim that is the only argument you have made, because you have made many.
I go back to my OP because that is the premise of the discussion; anytime I have varied from that it was in response to someone who posted in an intent to evade the actualities in my OP. I return to my OP because unless you have something to discredit what was said I cannot really understand the motivation behind posting in this thread other than to offer excuses for Amendola. The only thing that would merit discussing is if someone had a viable argument to suggest Amendola has discredited his critics.
If you need a recap, other than the OP you
1. critique Amendola's play, asserting that it invites injury and as such he should change his manner of play;
He plays a very physical brand of football, much more physical than Welker and at roughly 185 Lbs. it is fair to suggest he may not be able sustain in the NFL playing that way. That is my opinion, if you think he should keep doing what he is doing that is fine I just caution you to expect a different result.
2. critique his offseason training, but when called out on your lack of knowledge of what that routine is decline to admit you do not know what he does (reread my posts specifically explaining what you believe his workout to be from that article link you provided)
My suggesting that he needs to change his offseason conditioning is no more out of line than you or someone else suggesting it is currently a good program, we’re both making assumptions so to suggest my assumption is ridiculous but yours isn’t is just arrogant. I at least admitted I didn’t know and was only offering an opinion, others acted as if they were spotting Amendola in the weight room all offseason. I would take a hard look at the logic you’re using here because it goes both ways.
3. discuss concussions, without any apparent knowledge of the science available and refuse to educate yourself on the subject or offer any authority (that would be actual scientific authority) to support your argument;
I didn’t discuss concussions at all, I said the concussion accounted for 2% of the snaps missed by Danny Amendola this season so it really wasn’t a pivotal part of my assessment. I really don’t know what you think you're referring to but I would suggest re-reading the thread and letting me know the post # because this is inaccurate.
4. state with proper training Amendola could avoid groin pulls and broken collar bones (I would agree with the basic proposition that resistance training increases bone density and provides a buffer with additional muscle mass as Deus implied - it will not create an adamantium skeleton that might stop collar bone breaks).
I stated proper training can aid in injury prevention, and this is basically just a repeat of point #2 so my answer would be the same your assertion that Danny Amendola trained properly is an assumption it is not a fact and is no different than me suggesting that a different training program would help resolve his injury issues.
I never talked about the collarbone because I don’t care about the collarbone he was a member of the Rams when that occurred so it doesn’t have anything to do with the here and now, I am not going to go into depth to discuss something that people want to bring into this conversation despite it being 2-3 years old just to serve their agenda of making excuses for Danny Amendola’s injuries.
I am not recapping everything, because it is not worth my time. You have shown a tendency not to respond to requests for factual bases when called out on specific posts in this thread, or respond with non-responses to redirect discussion to some other unfounded opinion. If you want to have serious discussions, I would recommend you go line by line on items 1 through 4, providing links or actual, provable expertise to give yourself some credibility. Otherwise, call "check please" and bow out of the thread if you do not like the negativity directed at you and your posts, which for the most part seem to be what you have fashioned in your mind and nothing else. Baseless opinions are poor debate fodder, and a good reason to resist the urge to post.
As far as creditability goes at the end of the day my points will always be creditable than yours, why because I am just offering up facts, things that anyone who knows how to use the internet can pull up, others are offering excuses and hanging their hats on hopes and dreams that Danny will turn it around and they’ll be the loyal fan for always believing in him, by weeks 17 they’ll all turn just like they did last year with Lloyd they’ll hop off the Amendola fan wagon and post as if they were never on it.
I think the negativity is hilarious to be honest, I love to see adults succumb to being nothing more than 15 year old bullies on the school bus, it is actually like a car wreck you don’t want to see it but you cannot help but look.
Just a friendly warning if you want to be taken seriously. I have given in to the temptation to respond to this thread, but now I resist the temptation because it just doesn't seem to be eliciting intelligent responses for what you apparently believe to be your coherent arguments other than a fairly obvious proposition as to Amendola's performance to date.
I don’t really care if I am taken seriously the fact is anyone who opens their eyes in the morning knows that my assessment of the Amendola situation is spot on, he came in with a reputation amongst his critics and through six weeks he is done nothing but solidify that belief, and my suggesting that maybe adjustments in playing style, or a different offseason training program may put him in more optimal situation to succeed is not an unreasonable assertion. The suggestion that we should all sit back accept that are big name free agent signing is playing 32% of the snaps and hope that things get better because that’s what good fans do is something that I would really take a hard look at being taken seriously.
