Bring back?

Not at the expense of anyone on the projected WR depth chart. So no.

Re: Redskins release Donte Stallworth

I wondered why he wasn't here instead of Washington ... Not that he would've made the roster here either. Looks like Donte will be joining Branch and Moss on the golf course.

Because he blows and has for years?

Sounds like it could be the end for him and for that I sympothize.

As cold as this will come off I am kind of glad he is unemployed as having gone through a training camp I would think he would be on top of the short list of guys we could bring in later in the season in an emergency.

Stallworth has 42 total receptions since leaving NE after the 2007 season. He's been done for years. I wish him well in his (probable) NFL retirement.

At most, keep his number ready in case of an emergency. He might be able to fill in for a week or two if the Pats are in a desperate situation. Probably would rather have Deion Branch back and I don't want him either.

I think in this point in their careers, at least Stallworth still has speed. Branch's 40 time is timed with a sun dial.

Right. What does Stallworth offer at this point that a young PSer (or Matt Slater) wouldn't?

Now he is free to rejoin the Shadow Roster. He learned the Playbook last season, is a veteran, and unlikely to be picked up, thus saving a roster spot.

Plus he is familiar with the Shadow Roster, contract terms and conditions, and probably even the phone numbers.

Potential emergency signing, but the WR position is pretty set.

Amendola, Dobson, Boyce, Edelman, Thompkins are all locks. Then you add in Slater and that's six WRs already. Admittedly Slater is purely for STs and Edelmans best value comes in STs but there really isn't any need for more.

Besides, Stallworth is over the hill and doesn't really have anything left. The rookies have been promising enough that I'd be fine going through a rough stretch in the beginning of the season with them. Too much potential to waste playing time on a journeyman WR.

I don't think he's necessarily done. I mean, we last saw him scoring a 60 yard TD. That means he still had a little ability left then, and I don't think it disappears in one offseason, though he did have a pretty unique offseason.

He's done and has been for years. Yes, the TD was a nice play, but he wasn't all that open, he just made a nice catch. Going back to camp, though, Donte was one of the worst WRs on the field, even while playing a lot of snaps with future UPS drivers in the fourth preseason game.

It was only injuries and a serious lack of depth that led NE to bring him back last year. If he returns this year, it can only be bad news.

Sorry all I put together in my head was "Redskins" and "worth" and I realized this was worthless.

I don't think you could have come up with a better response. If we're forced to bring back Stallworth then it can't mean good things are happening.

Of course if injuries occur and a depth signing is needed, it's good to have an option from someone who knows the system.
