What's strange is a new Pats fan like me has more faith in the Pats HC (reminder: 3 freaking rings) than many long time Pats fans. Go figure.

I was under the impression that the correct figure is FIVE rings...someone want to "remind" me? I'm just an old ,stupid Pats fan after all...

Yeah, I edited my post to say, "3 freaking rings for the Pats alone". I trust you approve.

I'm just an old ,stupid Pats fan after all...

You said it, I didn't. I'm mature enough not to childishly call others disparaging names.

Actually that is the case. You cannot perform worse than Tebow has and yet you guys still want him on the roster, which makes it a case of "no matter what." You have also been taking the position that they have room to keep him and waste a roster spot on a guy who can't come in and play at his position when the truth is that will cost them a good player who can come in and play well at their position.

No, it isn't the case Sunshine. While I do indeed WANT him on the roster, I don't think you'll find a single post from me saying that he WILL be on the roster OR that the Pats should put him on the roster no matter what.

That's my whole point. You have this serious misconception that you've dreamed up, and now you have a thread arguing about that misconception.

Some of the guys are placed on the practice squad, but you have to watch that because they can be poached and they don't get the same kind of experience.

Here's one for you, what was Ryan Mallett's expected contribution his first year with the Pats, when he was carried at QB3 ?

He was expected to be able to come in and play if Brady and Hoyer went down, the difference is that he can actually play QB and Tebow can't. If Tebow had shown he could actually play the position then we wouldn't be having this argument, it is because he has played so horribly that we are having it. You also seem to have this idea that Tebow is actually some rookie prospect who can be developed when in truth he has been in the league for four years and is on the verge of his career being completely over. He's not a rookie project, he's a veteran who is washing out.

Ok I'll bite on a serious dsicussion ( I know I'm going to regret this ...) one thing I have not seen brought up is the fact that before his last putrid performance he had actually been doing real well in practice .

Now hear me out ..... He does well in practice with specific plays , in game none of those plays are called and he does not look good . Perhaps the fact that he is doing well with plays they have for him IN PRACTICE is enough for him to make the team. Plays he would actually run if needed in real games that the coaching staff is not tipping it's hat on.

The thing is most everyone on this thread is basing his worth on 2 really bad pre season games when in maybe ( and it's just a maybe) he's doing what BB and JM are telling him to do real well in practice.

Now If i was forced to bet I would bet he will be cut at the end of camp and then brought back for OTAs to continue development for one more year but I'll be the first to admit I have no idea.

Not in the regular season apparently as he's 1 of 4 iirc
I see you easily lose focus. Let's stick to the New England Patriots preseason games this year and the best 53 man roster possible for the 2013-14 New England Patriots.

Actually it is the case there sparky, he has played worse than any player i have ever seen trying to make a team and you still say you want him on the team. And i never claimed that you said he will be on the roster, i said that you want him on there despite how poorly he has performed and that's a fact.

Yeah, I edited my post to say, "3 freaking rings for the Pats alone". I trust you approve.no need to edit...just admit, FOR ONCE, FOR THE FIRST TIME, that you made a mistake

You said it, I didn't. I'm mature enough not to childishly call others disparaging names.I called MYSELF a disparaging (obviously to YOU)name..to wit "old, stupid Pats fan"...please point out EXACTLY the "others" in this specific post or ADMIT YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT THAT,ALSO

You really DO need a slew of alter egos to navigate the world of message boards....hard to remember anyone ever consistently stepping on his unit and refusing to admit it even ONCE as displayed by YOUR post history here. Carry on Markus....

Link to the articles saying how well he was doing in practice? Because i haven't seen any reports to that effect, in fact what I have read is the opposite, that he was doing so poorly in practice that he was being booed.

I will say though, I bet he is killing it in meetings, so if the NFL goes to a system where they don't actually play on Sunday but instead they just take written tests on their opponents he will be a very valuable asset.

I've posted a number of times the sets the Pats had Tebow working in at the practices I attended. Neither preseason game put into play the offensive sets he's been working on. The 2nd game just reaffirmed what everyone has seen from here when he's in the standard Pats O set. It was hardly a situation where the coaches were judging his play. They KNOW what he an do as an NFL QB and they are not trying to squeeze his square game into a round hole. I think we MAY see some of what they've been working him on this last game...but then...they DON'T HAVE to get a read on him in preseason. He's GOT a resume already. I THINK they MAY be holding out until game two to spring what they've had him working in on Ryan and the Jets...just a hunch...could be wrong but i usually have a pretty good read on what's going on when I SEE the practices.

Hey Sunshine #2,

I could say I'm a Brown alumnus rooting for fullback James Develin to make the roster since (1) he sacrificed a year on the practice squad, (2) he participates on the kickoff return special teams, (3) he is a former Ivy Leaguer, (4) he is the prototypical feel good underdog story.

I'll get those Tebow fans I'll trap them in my crazy thread and show them they don't know a dam thing...

Mwahahahaha, MWAHAHAHAHA...MWAHAHAHAHA

I followed the tweets coming out of practice that entire week, and many said Tebow was having a real good week, I don't have time to look them all up but this one from the sports writer for the Tampa Tribune stood out

"Coincidentally, Joe*read the Twitter feed of Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune who, from Bucs-Patriots joint practice in Foxborough yesterday posted this most unsettling information."

@RCummingsTBO: The most effective QB wearing the number 5 out here today has been Tim Tebow. By a mile. Not a good day for Josh Freeman

I remember you posting that .
It would be a dream come true to see BB stick it to the Jets using Tebow . Literally a best case scenario .

Ryan Mallett was primarily expected to carry a clipboard all season and develop so that the Pats could let Hoyer go the following year and not have an unproven rookie as Brady's backup. That he could have come in if Brady and Hoyer had both been hurt was just a added bonus.

As for Tebow, his "development" as a QB basically stopped after Josh was fired from Denver. Fox and McCoy didn't do much with him until he was named the starter, and even then, the work they did with him was game plan specific kind of stuff, not the normal work you do with young development QBs. As for the Jets, under Tony Sparano ? Are you kidding ?

The above was the main reason I was seriously stoked when the Pats signed him. Finally, he might be back in a good environment to try and develop.

I'm not the only one talking about the Pats developing Tebow. Here's Bruschi and Woody talking about it:

And if you were, I would be fine with it instead of running around like a whiny little girl crying that "This is crap, Atippett wants Develin to make the roster!!!!!"

Tim Tebow:

1 pass completion, 7 pass attempts, -1 yards passing, 1 interception, 0.0 quarterback rating

Tim Tebow 1 of 7 in pre-season - Terrible, shocking, must start threads blah blah blah

Ryan Mallett - 1 of 4 in regular season - nothing to see here. Move along.

Preseason with the New England Patriots not the NY Jets or the Denver Broncos. Live in the present not in the past.
