Has Tim Tebow earned a roster spot on the Patriots?

Serious question. There are those on this site claiming that Belichick will keep him on the final roster, so the real question is whether they actually believe he has earned it or if they simply think they should keep him because they like Tim Tebow?

I really hope this Tebow thing doesn't turn into a "the one that got away" episode for Josh McDaniels.

I'd have to say no. He could tear it up this week though and secure one. But, to date, he's looked anywhere from inconsistent to horrible.

My opinion won't surprise anyone, Tebow has performed worse than any other player on this team during this camp and pre-season and shouldn't be on the 75 man roster let alone the 53. If he is serious about a career in football he should go to the CFL and learn how to play well enough to make an NFL team. Imo it is ridiculous that some people want him on the team when he hasn't earned it.

it is a valid question, players earn spots on teams they aren't supposed to have them handed to them in a popularity contest. If Tebow supporters believe he has earned a roster spot they should say so and say what he has done to eanr the spot.

By that logic Ian should just shut the site down because there is nothing for us to talk about. Obviously Belichick makes all the decisions, but we still get to discuss them.

Not really, at least not the way the question is worded. Realistically nobody knows whether Tebow has earned a spot other than Bill and maybe some of his coaches.

HOw about a poll asking Tebow supporters why they want him to make the team? I think that's what you're getting at anyway....

You haven't defined earned. And I've justified a Tebow place on the roster in all the othe other Tebow threads - you just have to look at my second to last post in the mega-thread.

People have told you where they stand with TT in the other thread, you disagree. Now you want to create another thread to rinse and repeat the same arguments?

I'll save you some trouble, there were 77 or 76 people that wanted to keep(cut or keep poll) TT before Thursdays game now there are 85. Since then that's about 8 people and some have voiced why.

Tim Tebow hasn't earned the spot on his favorite dress that shows up when you shine a black light on it, from his new job in a massage parlor.

But yeah, if people want to keep him around for what he's going to do, because 2 out of the 3 pre-cogs say he will one day throw at an NFL level, okay. It's possible this stuff goes on past 8/31.

No. To be honest, I'll be slightly disappointed in Belichick, McDaniels and Caserio if Tebow does make the final 53 man roster. That said, it's Kraft's franchise and Belichick's team so they can do what they like with it.

Mallett is the 2nd best QB on the team, and I'd say better and more upside than most backups out there...hence the roster spot.

That's actually an interesting point. Wonder if Kraft has any influence on this decision. I can see him pushing for Tebow, and I don't think I like the idea of his opinion on personnel to be relevant.
