Why both Develin and Hooman?

The choice, as this board has said for months, is between Fells and Hooman. Apparently, Fells is not ready to go. I would expect Fells to be on speed dial.

BOTTOM LINE, Steve had Hooman making the team as a TE, not as a FB.

What is the injury situation with Ebner? I can't see him being a player that makes this squad from the tub.

I guess that makes sense. Healthy TE depth is a challenge at the moment.

And does Fells have enough service to have his year's salary guaranteed if he's on the Opening Day roster? That would be another reason to cut him.

With other teams losing TEs why would not a cut Fells sign with someone else willing to take a flier on his recovery from whatever injury plagues him?

No one knows. For me, the key is that we need one more special teamer. Steve picked Ebner, a good pick if he is healthy or if he will be ready relatively soon. After all, he can be inactive for awhile. It is OK to have backup STers.

I can't get aboard the keeping a FB bandwagon.The FB just doesnt play a big enough role in our offense to justify keeping one and we don't have elite enough #1 and #2 WRs for us to not have 3-4 legit pass catchers on the field. Teams like the Giants and Ravens got away with FBs because they have WR duos like Nicks/Cruz and Boldin/Smith. We don't.

5th DE definitely, 4th DT maybe, 3rd QB no. If he has really good ST value I'm ok with it.

The New England Patriots do not need six safeties on the 53 man roster. If Ebner can't get on the field for the last preseason game, place Ebner on the Injured Reserve List. Safeties Tavon Wilson and Duron Harmon both contribute on special teams, as well as cornerback Marquice Cole.
