Here's the thing.

"Win now" = you have one of the greatest QB's and coaches of all time, so it's a good idea to do whatever it takes to give your team the best chance to win.

"WIN NOW!!" = you have one of the greatest QB's and coaches of all time who are both in the late afternoons of their careers, so it's a really good idea to do whatever it takes to give your team the best chance to win, er, now because things might not be so rosy for this team in a few years.

And if you have a certain QB project who can't throw and can't help your team win today taking roster space, time and money because you want him to "sit and learn" just in case the 0.01% chance he becomes Steve Young actually materializes... that is not quite what I call giving your team the best chance to win now.

Hence, in 2013 the Patriots should be considered a WIN NOW team. Fact.

With that said, I agree that the term "Win now" could be interpreted as trying to win today at the expense of the future. That may be true for some teams, but that is not true for this team and that is not what I meant. At all.

I get what you are saying. The problem is that this is your opinion as to how the team should operate but you are projecting it as if Bill Belichick agrees with you and operates this way.

He doesn't. That's been my point this entire time.

Why should I?

You're the expert on all things all Patriots.

I don't care if you do or not. Doesn't matter to me either way.

As to the Pats, I'm hardly and expert on them, but one thing is rather clear, which is that I seem to have a better understanding as to how Bill Belichick operates than SB1 does.

Doubtful since your arrogance precedes you.

Regardless, they are still a win now team as I said way back in this topic, as per explanation above.

And if Bill is doing his job right, he is not only aware that he and his QB isn't going to be around forever, but he's also making decisions that in his best judgement, will help get them at least that one final ring.

We shall see what that means when it comes to #5.

Yep, one of my many vices, sins, or character flaws, whichever you want to call it. Sorry that I'm not perfect like you are apparently.

BTW, did you actually have a point ?

As I said before, you are entitled to your opinion no matter how comically wrong it might be.

My friend, if you had said the above in the beginning, or anything closely related to it, this entire discussion never would have taken place.

What you just talked about is Bill balancing the team's long term abilities with short term goals. That's not a "win now" type of approach.

Correction: It's not what *you* call win now.

Refer to post above starting with "here's the thing..."

Stop spewing your garbage about contracts signed by wide receviers on the New England Patriots roster.

» Over the Cap- Top NFL Contracts: Wide Receiver

Danny Amendola has 28th highest contract value on a APY basis for wide receivers in the NFL.

Don't tell us which wide receivers the New England Patriots need to sign in free agency either.

Why so serious?

You're in a Tebow thread arguing about an Amendola contract...

Win now is trading up and grabbing elite level WR talent or bringing in elite WRs through trades or FA.

Refer to post #2386

A "win now" type team would have kept Welker (or brought in Amendola), BUT, they also would have added to the mix by going after guys like Bowe or Wallace.

A typical condescending attitude by a Tebowite to dictate who the New England Patriots need to sign in unrestricted free agency and how much to spend without any consideration whatsoever to the salary cap or other positions for that matter.

I seriously have to believe that you are so blinded by the Tebow thing that you didn't read and understand what I wrote, or understand the context of the statements.

Let's take the two statements of mine that you cited.

Win now is trading up and grabbing elite level WR talent or bringing in elite WRs through trades or FA.

That wasn't saying what the Pats should have done. Rather, it's stating that IF, IF, IF the Pats were in a "win now" mode as SB1 claimed, that's the type of thing they would have done.

Second statement:

A "win now" type team would have kept Welker (or brought in Amendola), BUT, they also would have added to the mix by going after guys like Bowe or Wallace.

Same thing as the first. I wasn't saying that the Pats should have grabbed either player. I'm saying that IF, IF, IF the Pats were in a "win now" mode, one of those guys are the types the Pats would have brought in.

Now, as I've been arguing the entire time that the Pats and Belichick AREN'T in a "win now" mode., I definitely wasn't advocating what's expressed in those two statements that you quoted.

Does that clear it up some ?

...
That wasn't saying what the Pats should have done. Rather, it's stating that IF, IF, IF the Pats were in a "win now" mode, as I'd like to think SB1 claimed even though I misunderstood him or deliberately chose to do so, as it supports my obsessive need to be "right" in every single argument...that's the type of thing they would have done.

Fixed your quote for you for accuracy. Carry on.

obsessive need to be "right" in every single argument

This only applies to every internet forum poster ever.

God, please cut Tim Tebow.

Lord hear my prayer.
