The scrap heap!

Mt. Cody could be released? Hmm, he was a heralded draft pick not too many years ago. I wonder what happened? Did he eat himself into the doghouse? Injuries?

He may not fit our current system though. Even if everything checks out.

He is about 5-10 years too late for the NFL, he is strictly a run stopper, and honestly he isn’t even that great of one for a 360lb player. The reports are conflicting, some in Baltimore are raving about his improvements others have him as a cut.

Interesting. The Dolphins signed him to a big contract last season, then back injuries completely derailed his season. It's possible that he's just no longer effective, but it's also possible that he's still a useful player but nowhere near worth the money he was going to cost them.

Factoid: Marshall has played in only 1 playoff game in his 7-year career, a loss. How frustrating must that be?

He only played 4 games last season for them and the Grimes addition must of made him expendable.

I wonder what he'd be capable of if he got down to a decent weight.

Unfortunately, getting down to a decent weight is exactly what he isn't capable of.

Some notable players projected to be on the bubbles for their current squads for one reason or another –

Will Yeatman – OL
Vaughn Martin – DT
Tony McDaniel – DT
John Kuhn – FB
Bruce Campbell – OT
Jonathan Baldwin – WR
Riley Cooper – WR
Carlos Rogers – CB

I’d probably only be interested in Martin, Baldwin and Cooper (dumbass though).
Carlos Rogers and that would be it from that list.

I’m not really sure; he doesn’t appear to be much of an athlete, he seems to be a more of a space eater, and he has balance issues even doing that based on reports.

Holy crap this picture would scare a hungry dog off a meat truck..

My guess based on his (admittedly scant) public comments is that Seymour hated Belichick with a passion for a couple of months, held onto a lingering bitterness for another year, then the combination of time and the Oakland coaching carousel finally brought him back around to a grudging respect for Belichick, and appreciation for his role in putting rings on his fingers.

I also think it would be a smart business move for Seymour, as he heads toward retirement, to leave New England fans with a rosier memory of him.

So...not impossible, IMO.

While i don't disagree with i am really wondering why no-one has signed him to date and guess it must be the money he wants, and the Patriots won't go high for him. I would love to see him back but i am not counting on it at this point.

Wicked homah spin...waiting for camp almost ovah before signing in one of BB's patented end of camp "surprise" moves. But odds are 95:1 against.

Lol, yep. It is doubtful but i think most here would be pretty happy to see it happen. Seymour can play end and inside and would really help the depth at DL. Get Tommy Kelly on the phone with him and get him in here.

We have many spots open that could reasonably be filled by free agents. Certainly, the most pressing possibilities are on the defensive and offensive lines.

We may or may not be very familiar with any players brought in. After all, these players didn't make someone else's roster.

I'm sure that there are several patriot employees perusing the lists over the next month ove the next month or so.

Re: The scrap heap! NOT!

I think BB might be looking for more than scrap heap additions. Plus we can't keep 5 TEs, Gronk, Ballard, Fells, Hoomanwanui, and Sudfeld, even if they all are average or above NFL TEs.

Ideally BBe would seek a team who has a surplus of DL linemen, and needs another non scrap heap TE. Preferably in the other Conference or to a non-contender in the AFC. Are there any such? Yes. The Giants.

Let the Giants pick anyone other than Gronk and say Sudfeld, and we get to pick one of their DLs other than Peter Paul and another restricted one. Net, Net, both teams get a potential starter in a position of need, and both solve a surplus problem.

Soooo...a guy named Jake Ballard comes to mind as someone the NYG could potentially want

In all seriousness, I highly doubt that we'd be able to trade either one of Fells or Hooman. Those guys are a dime a dozen and plenty of teams will be cutting players like that.

On top of that, Fells was recently the TE1 as of about a week ago prior to getting nicked up and missing the past week. He has good knowledge of the system here from last season (a major plus) and is a much, much better blocker than Hooman.

In my opinion, Hooman will be nothing more than the usual cut. We don't really need 5 TE's. If we want to get a DL from somewhere it'll likely have to be through the process of picking him up from a camp casualty, not via a trade for one of our JAG tight ends of Fells/Hooman.

Yes, I absolutely agree that the trenches are the areas where we'd most likely need an additional player or two.

I also think that there's a great chance of not being familiar with the player or his name, as you stated. I highly doubt anyone worth that much will be walking through the doors anytime soon, but you never know I guess.

seriously though, any talent at safety or DE/DT would be great. Darnell Docket, Ryan Pickett, and Red Bryant off the top of my head.

I'm thinking that we may have to settle for something on a little bit less of a talent tier than you're proposing

Cant happen.

Im already in negotiations with the Broncos to trade them Ballard and getting Welker back.

And then Im signing Moss, Ocho, Lloyd. Add Edleman and Welker and I should have enough to trade for Fitzgerald..

I hate Madden. It makes it all look so easy.

I think RB Anthony Allen of the Ravens is a beast who's yet to be cut loose. Only 19 career carries and they've kept him on the roster for two years. If he doesn't make final cut this year (his 3rd), I think he's worth a look. He has great size and a punishing style.

It seems to me that the positions that the Patriots would most likely consider adding a player that could conceivably be cut on August 31 are defensive tackle and safety. Here is a list of those who may be cut from some of the better defenses at that time.
