Mort Reports Von Miller is going to be suspended for at least 6 games

Is Philly home or away? I think they could give Denver some trouble if they're at home. While Denver is most likely a playoff team this little boost certainly helps the Pats home field chances.

They are on the road against Dallas and the Giants. They are at home against Philly and Washington.

I'm sorry but I would not be that optimistic about the Broncos chances doing anything this year regardless if Manning is the quarterback.

This defense is worse than the Patriots.

Their out of division opponents are Baltimore, New England, Indianapolis, the NFC East, Houston, and Tennessee/Jacksonville. If the Broncos go 3-7/4-6 against these teams, then they are going to be in a world of hurt and that could certainly happen because of their defense and not having a settled situation at running back.

Bronco's have the easiest schedule in the league. 13 wins minimum even without VM. He is NOT getting suspended 6-games. 2 MAX. I'll bet anyone here he does not do the 6-games.

It is in the league's best interest that Peyton plays his brother in NYC for the Super Bowl. I expect some questionable calls this season along with this "suspension" being cut from 6 to 2-games.

If you're convinced that the NFL is fixed like, say possibly the NBA, why do you watch?

Was it in the league's best interest last year to have Peyton vs. Eli in the Super Bowl? I mean, the defending champ younger brother puts the title on the line against the returning hall-of-famer older brother?

I'll take that bet. Schefter said at least 6, and he rarely whiffs on this stuff.

Denver's defense is bad enough to lose to a team like Philadelphia.

Baltimore - Loss
@ New York Giants - Loss
Oakland - Win
Philadelphia - Loss
@ Dallas - Loss
Jacksonville - Win
@ Indianapolis - Loss
Washington - Loss
@ San Diego - Win
Kansas City - Win
@ New England - Loss

I have them going at worst 7-9 because of that defense.

Their secondary is still going to have issues and is a year older (Champ Bailey). DRC does nothing to improve that secondary and their safeties are still not good. Fortunately, they have "adequate" linebacking depth with Phillips and Bradley.

The loss of Miller for 4-6 games compounded by the loss of Dumervil is what is going to hinder this team from being a legitimate playoff contender.

Further that with their issues at running back and this will be a team hard pressed to succeed against any good defense. My bet is that they will finish 9-7 and out of the playoffs as a karma shout out to 8-8 teams making the playoffs.

We used to make the same predictions when manning played with bad defenses in indy and they still won a lot of games during the regular season. Same case - Manning will win a lot of games for them.

I agree that their defense sucks and they're facing a tough schedule, but they'll be fine at RB. Ball is legit, and with their passing game they hardly need an all pro in there.

I almost forgot - Brandon Stokley's loss accounts for another 500 + yards and five scores.

So between McGahee, Moreno and Stokley, that is over 2,000 total yards and 13 scores to be replaced by Welker, Ball and Hillman.

Not going to be easy.....

Welker will easily surpass (not just replace) all of Stokley's production.

Meanwhile, Hillman is absolutely an upgrade over Moreno, mostly because Moreno sucked. McGahee to Ball is the only real question mark there.

how much are you willing to bet?

....in their home town with their fathers name in the rafters.

2 MAX? He will be suspended at least 3. So the NFL is fixed? Won't watch this year then

Fixed it for ya.

Not to change the subject, but I have to think there would be some sort of whistle blower besides Donaghy. Though I do admit that some of the officiating that takes place, particularly in the playoffs, seems strange... to say the least.

Albert Breer is reporting that was originally an eight game suspension negotiated down to six and Miller is trying to negotiate it further down to four games. His arrest had nothing to do with the suspension.

Looks like his best case scenario is a four game suspension, but likely a six game suspension.

Boy - that doesn't bode well for Hernandez - even if he's acquitted.

Ewing to the Knicks and a half dozen other draft lotteries. And then there are the games themselves....

What do we know? Welker improves Denver's passing Offense. What don't we know? Whether or not Hillman and Ball will be an upgrade on McGahee and Moreno. We also don't know what the Broncos Tight Ends will bring to the table. It's reasonable to suggest that Denver's passing O will improve and their rushing attack may not.

I do believe the Chiefs have a D capable of curtailing any NFL Offense, especially if the reports of a much improved and dominating Dontari Poe are true. The problem with the Chiefs is that they are a collection of talented individuals that do not play as a team.

Code:
        T.Jackson D.Poe M.DeVito
   J.Houston A.Jordan D.Johnson T.Hali
B.Flowers E.Berry K.Lewis S.Smith

For mine, that's a very solid starting 11. That said, I'm not buying high on the Chiefs until the on field performance matches the off field names.

I really cannot find anything concrete to refute your supposition. I'd like to know if there's been any trademarks established by the NFL yet, like the NFL had LAST season when they trademarked "Harbaugh Bowl" in February.

Is it possible to find out if "Manning Bowl" has been trademarked yet?

I'm not sure if this has been covered in the thread already as I have not read through the whole thing. Albert Breer was on Sirius NFL Radio this morning and was explaining why the suspension might be negotiated down. There were two reasons.

1). His first offense came when he was a rookie during the lockout. So there are questions of whether or not that was considered an offense since he was not technically employed by the NFL. So there are questions on whether this should be considered his 2nd or 3rd offense.

2). His name was leaked to the media for a positive test months before it should have been. This was a huge black for the drug testing policy as there is supposed to be confidentiality until appeals are finished.
