Which hybrid pass rusher will take that big leap this year, into elite status?

CJ will take the 2nd year jump.

Hightower will have to improve his coverage skills if he wants to be considered elite. So I think Jones will have the "easier" time making the leap.

they both will make huge strides as BB has already said this training camp..but neither will be elite this year IMO...by next year i think Jones will be.

I think both will be better than last year. I think Jones has the far better chance to have a JJ Watt type of second year jump if that is actually possible. At the very least, I think Jones will make the bigger jump.

IDK, the way Jones has been manhandling Nate Solder (and Mankins in one drill) so far in training camp, either he has the potential to be elite this year or Brady has the potential of getting killed.

Chandler Jones will take the biggest leap as a pass rusher; but it's actually an unfair comparison unless you're suggesting a major change to how the Patriots use Hightower, last season Hightower only rushed the passer 65 times.

Needless to say I think they will both make the leap into the upper echelon tier of their positions, but I probably would of asked the question differently because they're not "hybrid pass rushers".

I have to agree with you there, the comparsion is unfair. All the chips will naturally favour Jones. But I expect both to significantly improve on their rookie season.

Jones has the simpler role, so it's easier for him to progress quickly.

Both will make a leap. Hightower looked great last year when healthy. Same with Jones.

I expect Jones to have 8-10 sacks this year. Then the year after he'll have 12+.

Health is the determinant here, if both healthy both will make significant strides..

As usual , health dependent, but, if reports are accurate, whomever is able to abuse(maybe too strong of a word) TB's protector is poised for a "BIG" season. CJ 12 sacks and terrorizing QBs this season :singing::singing:

I think Hightower will make the leap...I mean look at him

If Hightower still has his struggles in pass coverage, I would say that the answer would be Jones in a landslide.

Could even have more than 12. He hit the rookie wall last year + missed games due to injury.

If he's 100% ready this year he could be in for a breakout season.

I think both will be one of the better at their position in the league this year.

With the pace he was on, before getting hurt I expect more than that. At least 12 sacks this year I say.
