Since when was it considered appropriate or even relevant for Cromartie to comment to the media about the team's offense? Such a bizarre outfit down there.

Yes, precisely. Even when a player tries to say something positive, he 1) disrespects an incoming starter, and 2) is commenting on something he hasn't a clue about.

Smith may win this battle for a starting spot, but he's demonstrated nothing that would indicate he's ready to lead an NFL team. Being out of shape for the most important audition of his life is another example. His judgment and emotional maturity seem to be sorely lacking. If that's true, his arm strength and accuracy will be red herrings rather than assets.
